Whether its a romantic getaway or a relaxing break with friends and family, Red Dog Retreat is the place for you. It also offers you the option of bringing your dog and save on those kennel fees!
In summer, you can be on the beach in 20 minutes and then come home to the seclusion and cooler mountain breezes on Cambewarra Mountain which overlooks most of Shoalhaven. Seven Mile Beach at Shoalhaven Heads is dog friendly, so your canine friend will be happy too!
Enjoy the fantastic shops and award winning restaurants of Berry or Kangaroo Valley and then wind down at sunset on your covered veranda with a refreshing glass of something cool while you spot our resident wombats and birdlife.
For those who prefer to prepare their own meals there is a small yet well equipped kitchen. Please note that there is no microwave and the fridge is only small so best not to bring large amounts of food with you. There is also a Weber BBQ on the veranda where you can cook up a meal while taking in the surrounding forest.
In winter you can snuggle up in front of the wood burning stove. After that take time out to soak up the atmosphere in our spa bath or have a massage from a therapist that will visit the cottage, before hitting the sack to recharge the batteries and awaken to the sound of native birdsong, welcoming in the next day.
The cottage has two bedrooms and is designed with a rustic feel to blend in with the tranquil rainforest setting. To compliment this it is furnished with an array of eclectic furniture providing all the creature comforts of home. The main bedroom has a ceiling fans and French doors opening up onto the veranda to catch the cool summer breezes. Whilst during the winter months you can enjoy the warmth of the wood burning stove in the cosy living room.
With mountains and beaches virtually at your front door there is an endless list of activities to entertain you during your stay.
All this can be yours in just over 2.5 hours drive from both Sydney or Canberra so why not book your next escape today!
There is a second cottage on the property called Red Dog Cottage which can also accommodate up to 4. Many people book both cottages for groups of up to 8 people; it is the perfect location to spend quality relaxing time with your friends or family. The cottages are about 70 metres apart and are on different elevations so offer complete privacy if required.
Guests are welcome to bring their dog but an additional fee of $50 does apply. Please advise us if you are planning on bringing your dog when booking. Please note that the property is not fully fenced and dogs must be supervised at all times.
Bedding configuration - Please note that unless otherwise requested only 1 double bed will be made up for bookings of up to 2 guests. If additional beds are required please advise at time of booking.

Great spot! Easy to find and very close to nature. The only issue was the BBQ needed a bit of a clean from the previous tenants but was more than compensated by the wonderful stay we had.

Best Coffee In Kangaroo Valley
KV Coffee Co is the go-to spot in Kangaroo Valley for an amazing coffee. They’ve got top-quality beans and a friendly vibe. It’s the perfect place to fuel up before exploring or relax in their lush outdoor area.
Mary Poppins Handbag Of Bookshops
From the front, this first appears to be a tiny little shop but it just keeps going back and back and back. A magical experience weaving through the maze of bookshelves eventually landing in a leadlight windowed light-filled room filled with the loveliest children's books. We browsed for hours and left with armfuls!
Dinner At The Friendly Inn
It's all in the name. The Friendly Inn has a gorgeous outdoor beer garden that's dog-friendly and has a play ground for the kids.
