A beautiful stay with delightful hosts. We had a lovely weekend away with the family, using the on site cabin and our own caravans. Instructions and directions that were provided leading up to our stay were clear and very helpful. We do not have a bad thing to report with our time away.

Had the most wonderful stay at Roy’s Hut and Walnut Campground, with family and fur babies. Phoebe’s communication was fantastic, camp kitchen was well stocked, allocated fire pit was fantastic, the a...mount of wood recieved when purchased was extremely generous. The river and scenery just amazing. Our only complaint is that we didn’t stay long enough so we going to book again for 4 nights instead of 2. A truly amazing oasis, just absolutely adored this property, and all of us cannot wait to go back. Thank you Phoebe for allowing us to stay at your beautiful property!

A wonderful spot tucked into the bend of the Dargo river surrounded by walnut trees. Everything has been thoughtfully set up to make our stay easy and comfortable. It’s very dog friendly, with easy access to the pristine river. We'll definately be back!

From a young age I have enjoyed the excitement, relaxation and cultural emergence associated with travelling. I have spent extensive time in the Victorian High Plains. Living between the Yarra Valley and Dargo I have a deep attachment to the Australian bush. In particular my family and I have discovered the many health and relationship benefits of intermittent time spent off grid.

River Swimming

The pristine Dargo River flows through the property. Its crystal clear waters is the perfect place for a dip in the warmer months, or grab a cold drink and plonk a deck char in the river.

Mountain Bike Riding

Probably Victoria's second-toughest sealed climb, after the infamous Mount Baw Baw. A combination of very steep, irregular gradients, a rough (though sealed) road surface, relatively little shade, and the position of its toughest section near the top, make it a very tough challenge. The Dargo hillclimb begins a few kilometres north of Dargo, Victoria, on the Dargo High Plains Road. The climb is easy to find, as there is only one sealed road in to and out of Dargo.

Mitchell River National Park

Mitchell River National Park has impressive river scenery, serene rainforest gullies, rugged landscapes and some of Victoria’s more unusual vegetation communities. From open forest to remote river gorges, the park is home to a vast array of indigenous flora and fauna, some at the furthermost extent of their range. The park is an exciting destination for outdoor enthusiasts and boasts unspoilt natural beauty and remoteness.

Mitchell River Walking Track

From river to gorge top, the semi-remote Mitchell River Walking Track follows the west bank of the river downstream from Angusvale through the Den of Nargun gorge, which is lined with remnants of temperate rainforest. There are spectacular views from the river to the top of the gorge. (One hour drive from camp site)
