Escape to Blackwood Nest - a bespoke, private, stand alone cabin with expansive rural views that has been thoughtfully designed.
Every element has been curated to feel calm, comfortable and quietly luxurious.

Large windows in every room invite the outdoors in, creating a serene, light-filled space.
Whether you’re exploring the wonders of the Bay of Islands and the Far North or simply unwinding, Blackwood Nest is both the perfect base or the ultimate destination.
Immersed in nature, it invites stillness and a true sense of escape.

On winter days, guests can get cosy by the fireplace and read, watch movies, play board games or just relax.
Summer evenings can be spent relaxing outside under the covered area, and cooking on the BBQ.

However, a standout feature is the outdoor bathroom which has a shower and a gorgeous bath, perfectly positioned to soak in the peaceful countryside - an experience that defines the essence of Blackwood Nest.

If you wish to leave your sanctuary and explore, take a drive to Paihia where you can take a cruise to the iconic Hole in the Rock, visit Urupukapuka Island or take the ferry to Russell.

The gorgeous Matauri Bay is a 25 min drive.
Or for the active relaxers, you can go mountain biking at the Waitangi Mountain bike Park.
There are several wineries, restaurants and cafes all within a 15 minute drive in the boutique town of Kerikeri.
Or venture further north to discover the Karikari Peninsula or the raw beauty of Cape Reinga.

If you're looking for a stay where you can completely switch off, this is it. It's only 15 minutes from Kerikeri township, and you'll be surrounded by peaceful farmland and the countryside.

Michelle ...was an incredible host and has thought of absolutely everything. Blackwood Nest was stocked with breakfast goodies including fresh eggs, bread, pancake mix, jams, fresh juice, and more, making it so easy to settle in and relax.

The outdoor bath was easily the highlight of our stay. Soaking under a sky full of stars on a clear night was easily one of the best experiences. And the accommodation itself is beautifully designed, modern, and flows so well, creating a space that's both stylish and cosy.

There are plenty of little touches that make you want to stay put, from board games to reading spots, making it the perfect place to spend an entire weekend without ever needing to leave. But, if you do decide to explore, it's an excellent base for discovering the Bay of Islands. I'd highly recommend taking the ferry across to Russell for the day.

We left feeling recharged and would happily stay here again.

I'm passionate about creating and curating spaces that feel grounded, organic and connected to nature. With the adult children moving away, I decided I needed a new project. I had long dreamed of building a dwelling on the best site of the property - and from that vision, Blackwood Nest was born, now offered as a short term retreat for others to enjoy.
