Welcome to Cabin Cape Schanck, a place to cook, swim, walk, rest… On the edge of National Parklands in beautiful Boon Wurrung Country on the Mornington Peninsula.

The cabin is a 1980’s build of timber and stone, which we’ve thoughtfully restored ourselves with natural finishes for a Japanese/Scandinavian feel. It features raked timber ceilings, cork floors, Scandinavian wall heaters and a vintage fireplace, and is furnished and decorated with Australian designed furniture and collections of handmade and vintage ceramics, art and textiles.

Once inside the private entrance the garden is quiet and lush with bird-attracting native plants, local sourced rocks and ancient tea trees. There’s grass to stretch out on, deck chairs for reading, and a large entertaining deck for outdoor dining, as well as outside tap for washing off sandy feet!

Cape Schanck sits at Victoria’s furthest Southern point facing Bass Straight, and is minutes from Fingal and Gunnamatta beaches so the air is always fresh, the weather constantly changing and dramatic…the night skies black and filled with stars. Cape Schanck lighthouse and museum are at the end of the road, with easy scenic walks starting from the lighthouse carpark. Cape Schanck lighthouse and the nearby boardwalk are popular locations to get the best views of the Southern Lights, when visible to the naked eye.

Inside you’ll find a large open loungeroom with fireplace, (plenty of firewood and kindling) books and wall mounted TV, plenty of board games, 2 (locally designed, 1 locally made lounges, and a dining table to seat 6 guests. There’s a Bluetooth speaker for your playlist and free WIFI.

The kitchen is designed by 2 cooks, so you’ll find all the tools you need to make use of the beautiful local sourced produce surrounding the cabin, from Red Hill/Main Ridge’s wine, cheese and cider, to Flinders mussels, to the amazing farm-gate shop at Hawkes Farm, less than 10 minutes from the cabin, where you can stock up on organic eggs, local baked bread and coffee beans roasted nearby.

There’s Bosch induction stove & electric oven, Delonghi espresso machine, Moccamaster drip coffee machine, coffee grinder and kettle, with nice tea and local roasted coffee provided.
Inside the cupboards you’ll find cooking basics like oil, vinegar and spices, and all the trays, tins, mixers, utensils and plates you need to make something delicious! We’ll leave milk, butter and spreads.
A full-sized fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster, toastie press, blender, rice cooker and soda stream machine. Please note there is no microwave.

There’s one bathroom with a toilet, bathtub and shower, plenty of towels and SALUS skin and hair care products.

There is a separate laundry with washer, dryer, iron/ironing board, and an outdoor clothesline.

2 Queen sized bedrooms with new, comfy beds. The third bedroom has twin single beds. All beds are made with quality linens.

* We are a strict no-schoolies/rowdy-parties home. We are surrounded by wonderful neighbours and loud, boisterous behaviour will not be tolerated.

* Important to note this cabin is not really suitable for babies or toddlers. We do not have a cot, change table or high chair, and there is no guard on the fireplace. There are also glass panels to the floor in all rooms, and many small breakable objects which aren't really suitable for tiny folk.

* This property is strictly pet free.

* There is no AC, we use ceiling fans and pedestal fans in warm times, and the Scandinavian wall heaters and fireplace in cooler times, hot water bottles in all the wardrobes if you like to snuggle!

GUEST ACCESS:
Access to the property is gained by a secure front gate with pin code entry and parking to the front of the property off the service road on Cape Schanck Rd. The cabin is yours to enjoy, but please note that our neighbours on either side are residents, so noise should be kept to a minimum from 10pm.

CHECK OUT:
Please let us know if you need a late checkout, as cleaners will arrive shortly after your departure.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
The cabin is our family’s regular city escape, so we’re happy to recommend places to eat and drink, and nice things to do.
We are literally across the road from Barragunda Dining, and down the road from the famous Hawkes Farm shop.
There are lots of beautiful walks and look-outs, amazing beaches and rock pools and even a secret place to see wild kangaroos. If there’s a runner, we know the good spots to train and run too, just ask! We can also tell you all about the painters, photographers and designers who made all the nice things inside too, just ask!

The cabin is a 15 minute drive from Rosebud, Red Hill, Tootgarook, Rye or Flinders’ shops with cafes, restaurants, supermarket, liquor store, news agency and more. We are 20 minutes drive to local vineyards and renowned restaurants and wineries such as Polperro, Montalto and Jackalope.

GOLF COURSES:
Our cabin backs onto the RACV Cape Schanck Golf Course, and is close by to The Dunes Golf Links Course.

ALBA THERMAL SPRINGS + PENINSULA HOT SPRINGS:
We are 15 minutes drive to both thermal springs. You should go!

We'd love to see our guests enjoy their stay with us!

The home was gorgeous. So comfortable, and had all the amenities you could ask for. So many thoughtful touches. Home made granola, ground coffee, even a tiny butter block. A very very comfortable sleep. We will be back. It was a delight

Relaxing At Gunnamatta Beach

Being too cold to swim meant we took some time to just sit and relax by the water to take it all in.

Hidden Rock Pool

To discover this rock pool, you need to go during low tide. It's a 45 minute walk to the beach of Bushrangers Bay and once you arrive, walk towards the left side towards the rocks. You wont see the rock pools until you arrive there. Enter at your own risk friends and be smart with your choices. We parked at Bushrangers car park at 5am as low tide was arriving at 5:30am. Was pretty magic rising before the sun and seeing the beach come to life as we arrived.
