Additional Information

For people wishing to travel with a larger group, check out our other listing 'The Barn', which is located approximately 300m from The Workshop and sleeps up to 6 people.

LIVING AREAS
The main living space is warm and atmospheric, with thick mud brick walls, dramatic recycled timber features and views of the garden and surrounding bushland. The fireplace is the heart of the room, creating a cosy place to relax on the rustic leather couches. The Yamaha baby grand piano adds a touch of luxury and drama to the room and is the perfect accompaniment to the crackling fire.

A separate sitting and TV area sits adjacent to the kitchen, giving groups travelling together the freedom to spend time together or enjoy their own space. It’s also the perfect spot to curl up while dinner is cooking, with the kitchen and dining area just a few steps away.

BEDROOMS
Above the living room, the cosy east facing mezzanine bedroom overlooks the treetops. Tucked into the upper level, this bedroom allows you to feel part of the canopy or to draw the dividing curtain to create a more intimate space. This is the place to drift off to sleep with the fire glowing below.

Downstairs, a west facing bedroom offers another way to experience the bush. Wake slowly with views into the trees, where wallabies and an abundance of birdlife (including lyrebirds!) are often spotted moving through the garden.

Both bedrooms have been chosen to make a good night's sleep part of the experience, with a comfortable Queen-sized Ecosa mattress in the mezzanine and a Queen-sized Sleeping Duck mattress downstairs.

KITCHEN
The kitchen features recycled antique cabinetry and contains everything you need. Spacious red gum benchtops and raw brass details sit alongside modern amenities, including a Breville coffee machine, induction cooktop, oven, refrigerator/freezer and microwave.

There is plenty of cookware for preparing a slow breakfast, a long lunch or dinner to enjoy around the handmade dining table, built onsite from the trees around you.

BATHROOM
The bathroom is located on the ground floor and is designed to be a moody, tranquil space without sacrificing the comforts of modern ammenities. The generous shower area features a large rainwater shower head.

OUTDOORS
Step outside and the character of The Workshop gives way to the landscape around it.
The property sits on one acre of bushland and garden, with an undercover outdoor dining area recycled from an old, local boiler. You’ll find plenty of places to sit, slow down and simply watch what moves through the garden.
Wombats, koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, owls and lyrebirds have been sighted here, along with a huge variety of birdlife.

PETS & WILDLIFE
Native animals are one of the most special parts of staying at The Workshop, which we treat as an extension of the nearby national park. For this reason we do not allow pets on the property as we respectfully wish to preserve the grounds for the local (and very flighty) wildlife.

PRIVACY
The Workshop is a detached private dwelling based on 1 acre of bush, which sits within the 5 acre property where we live.

Your privacy and comfort are extremely important to us. Guests have their own private driveway and entry to The Workshop, with no shared spaces or amenities. A section of the surrounding bushland is designated entirely for private guest use, and within these boundaries you’ll have the property all to yourself.
A tall, thoughtfully positioned fence separates the two dwellings, providing privacy for both guests and hosts.

CHILDREN
Children are welcome at The Workshop, however the property has several features that require particular care, including but not limited to an un-gated, steel staircase, open fireplace and grand piano.
For this reason, children must be supervised at all times during their stay.

HEATING & COOLING
A Nectre fireplace sits in the main living room to provide that perfect atmosphere and a drum of kindling and firewood is provided for guests.
The Workshop has two powerful split-system air conditioners for heating and cooling. One services the mud brick living and mezzanine bedroom area, while the other is located in the kitchen, dining and TV area.

The downstairs Queen bedroom opens from this second living area. There is also a small electric fan/heater available in the wardrobe.

WIFI & PHONE RECEPTION
Free Wi-Fi is available via a satellite NBN connection and is suitable for streaming, browsing, messaging and voice or video calls.
Phone reception can be patchy. Telstra customers may get intermittent reception depending on where you are around the property.

My partner Lynton & I recently ditched our busy city lives in pursuit of a slower & more sustainable existence in Gippsland’s beautiful bushland. When we’re not working, you’ll find us playing music, gardening or creating art, clothing or furniture. Growing & cooking our own food is a particular passion of ours, but we also love eating out & trying new food when travelling.

Exploring The Local Area Of Yinnar South

We drove through to the small quaint town of Yinnar South, grabbed a coffee and walked around to see what the town had to offer. The locals were super friendly and up for a yarn, we grabbed a coffee and walked around exploring the shops and parks.

Fosters Gully Nature Trail

In this National Park wildlife thrives, with echidnas, kangaroos, possums, wallabies and wombats often spotted vanishing into the bush. You may also disturb a skink, goanna or other reptile on your walk. There are over 43 species of orchids, some of which are quite rare, have been identified in the dry Eucalypt woodlands as well as in the ferny gullies along the creek.

Forest Walk

I packed a picnic lunch to have in Lyrebird forest and took all the walking tracks. The River walk was totally the best one and had the best picnic spot! Didn't spot any Lyrebird's but I could hear them.
