This is a really special place, curated by owner and custodian of the land, Mae. The accommodation is beautiful, with everything we needed for a cosy stay. Mae has everything covered!

Wake up surrou...nded by trees and wildlife, and spend the day discovering everything Venus Bay and beyond has to offer. Must do: make sure you head to Venus Bay Beach for sunset.

Such a beautiful spot and experience! Mae welcomed us on arrival with all the info we needed, then gave us space and privacy to relax for the rest of the stay. It was incredible to watch the animals while relaxing in the tub. Highly recommend!

From 1983 Venus Bay Eco Retreat’s owner and host Mae lived on the property for a decade with a basic campsite. Mae says “Living with few comforts in the bush allowed me to closely observe the annual seasons and wildlife. I now enjoy sharing this interest with visitors to the eco retreat.”

Sunset At Beach No 5

Beach No.5 is an easy beach access and awesome spot to view the sunset!

Swimming

South Gippsland has some of the finest sandy beaches in Victoria. In the warmer months of November to May the nearby popular ocean beaches at Cape Paterson, Inverloch, Venus Bay, Sandy Point, Waratah Bay and Norman Bay are the perfect swimming, walking and beach picnic spots.

Fishing

Venus Bay and surrounding beaches are renowned for their autumn, winter and spring salmon fishing while snapper, gummy sharks and flat head are caught from the same beaches.

The Magic Walkerville Beach

Extremely secluded, Walkerville South is only accessible by lonely gravel roads and the lack of people ensures that facilities are at a bare minimum. The gravel road that leads to Walkerville South ends with a similar boat ramp to that of its northern sister settlement, and a sheltered bay frequented in the summer by families swimming and fishing in the quiet pristine waters.

Walkerville North provides beautiful views across Waratah Bay to nearby Wilsons Promontory, and at low tide provides access to spectacular rock pools.

Surfing

Venus Bay beach is 24 km of stunning sandy beach with five public access points. Venus Bay beach faces directly to the Southern Ocean and the species rich waters of Bass Strait. This beautiful wild beach is ideal for low tide walks, viewing shorebirds, wave board riding and surfing.

Coastal Walks

This stunning coastal landscape is ideal for long walks or to view sunsets on the wild Southern Ocean.

Anderson Inlet.
Sheltered walking trails follow the foreshore of Anderson Inlet to reveal pristine wetlands with diverse wildlife.
