COTTAGE DETAILS
Our gorgeous cottage sits nestled among beautiful gardens and mature trees, located in Somerville at the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula. Beautifully styled using vintage and repurposed treasures & oozing with authentic appeal, Jack Cottage transports you to a time of calm and rest.
Jack Cottage was conceived as a place for family and friends to retreat and reconnect surrounded by beautiful trees and plants, with a spectacular feature to be the glorious Jacaranda tree. Five "Jacks" are now growing around the property to blend with majestic gums and bird attracting natives. Our cottage is a place to recharge and reconnect with the beauty of nature, with others or indeed, yourself. It is carefully curated to transport you to simpler, slower times. Filled with items to evoke memories, start conversations, plan journeys and dream of slower days and deeper connections.
Freshly brewed coffee enjoyed while watching the morning sky explode into colour and in the evenings the sweet smell of jasmine permeates the air as you enjoy wine, conversation and laughter on the private deck. A place we ourselves came to not so long ago but can now never imagine leaving.
Jack Cottage is newly renovated using almost entirely salvaged and re-purposed materials. The cottage features a generous master bedroom with a lovely writing desk overlooking the garden and providing inspiration. The combined living and dining room is a bright, airy space for you to enjoy the views through the vintage french doors out to your own private deck.
The bathroom features a generous walk in shower.
A cosy separate room with bunks accommodates two people (styled for children) and is stocked with books and games for you to enjoy.
On arrival, you'll find tea & coffee refreshments. We also provide you with beautiful bars of soap, and hand and body wash. Good quality, squeaky clean towels, pillows, bed linen and snuggly blankets are all provided.
Jack Cottage has split system air conditioning & heating. It doesn't take long to heat or cool and as such, you'll find it is really cosy & comfortable in all seasons.

We had a lovely stay at Jack cottage. The property is truly gorgeous, unfortunately we didn’t get to fully experience the gardens. The winter weather was in full swing, we braved the cold and ventured out on a hike to Cape Schanck along the two bays trail.

In 2024 we have been married 52 years with 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren. We moved to the Jack Cottage property in 2017 for our next life chapter which includes room for all our family, places for children to play and roam safe and free, and our love of gardening and sustainable living with kindness to people and the planet. Jack Cottage has been decorated and styled with re-purposed and recycled furnishings, bringing new life to pre-loved pieces and creating an opportunity to revisit days past and a slower pace of life. We are also thoroughly enjoying our semi rural tree change with access to all the pleasures of the Mornington Peninsula and both Westernport and Port Philip Bays. As each season passes we love seeing how our garden is growing, blooming and changing colours. We hope you will enjoy it too.

Here are some details about the adventures nearby. Refer to the map for their location.
Swimming
Crystal clear waters and long stretches of sandy beaches make Port Phillip Bay a dream on a hot summers day. Walk beyond the sandbars into gently lapping waves and cool off.
Westernport Bay
Beautiful beaches from Somers to Flinders with cafes and wineries all along the way.
Montalto Winery
Upon the recommendation of our host Jo we visited the Montalto Winery in Red Hill. Just 20 minutes away, Montalto is nicely perched on the hill overlooking the grapevine and marvellous gardens. We sat outside for a couple of wines and lunch whilst the little fella could explore the space and gardens.
Coastal And Bush Walks
With nearly 100 walking tracks on the Peninsula means you’re spoilt for choice. Choose from easy coastal walks including beaches, piers, cliff tops, historic sites and villages for a lazy coffee. Head inland for beautiful bush walks, bird-filled wetlands, pretty creeks and ocean views.
Fresh Mussels At Flinders Pier
Only 30 minutes from Jack Cottage is the beautiful Flinders. We ate some yummy, freshly cooked mussels on the beach. Take your pick of mussels with Laksa or Napoli sauce from Harry's Mussels, right near Flinders Pier.
Flinders Ocean Beach
After filling up on mussel's, we headed down to Flinders Ocean Beach. We spent the afternoon relaxing amongst the rockpools of the Mushroom Reef Sanctuary and impressive Flinders coastline whilst hang gliders soared above.
