The yurt is situated on top of a mountain overlooking the beautiful King Valley on a 345-hectare working cattle farm. After driving up a steep dirt track through bushland teeming with kangaroos, wombats, deer etc. you will burst onto a plateau with the most amazing views of the mountains.
We are in an isolated location so you can enjoy these incredible views while sitting in the privacy of your own yurt watching the sunrise while sitting in an outside fire heated bath. The stars are incredible at night.
You have the feeling of being the only person in the world. At dusk enjoy a glass of local wine while enjoying the sounds of silence.
We are only twenty minutes drive from local wineries and there is a river 10 mins away. We now have three yurts all private from each other so If you cant get a booking on the Yurt Alpine Retreat try The Yurt Alpine Retreat II which is very similar, similar location and views with a bath as well.

I had a really great stay at the Yurt Alpine Retreat. The view of the valley from our yurt was incredible and the environment was so peaceful. The yurt itself was so interesting and cosy with pretty f...airy lights and incense provided for burning (optional). The campsite has everything you need - outdoor gas bbq and a single burner hotplate inside with a kettle for tea. All kitchen equipment and dished are provided, as well as a broom and a brush and musical instruments. We could not use the outdoor fire heated bath due to the summer total fire-ban but we just filled it with cold water for a daytime bath and it was so relaxing.

What a truely magical place. I spent 2 days alone in total bliss for my Rebirthday , isolated in my thoughts amongst natural wonder .
Experienced all the seasons in one day from giant rainbows, peltin...g hail , gusty winds, pure sunshine and glorious moonlight.
The yurt itself was cosy and felt like a nest that enveloped you like a big hug. The highlight was the outdoor tub a true ritual in the art of bathing.
Sharon was there to greet and escort me up to the top with a warm and welcoming smile. A perfect stay to reflect , meditate and recalibrate the system amongst roaming cattle, sound of bird songs and vast open air

This was a beautiful stay! The yurt was so cute and cosy and the fire really warms up the place. Our only downfall was extreme winds so we didn’t get to use the outdoor fire and bath which was unfortunate but we will definitely be recommending this stay!

The Property
There are lots of bushwalks along our panoramic mountain ridge or into the adjoining natural bushland where you can see Kangaroos, wombats and deer.
The Magical Mammoth Fig Tree
Wander down the hill to find a fig tree as big as a house! Once you duck under the branches you'll find 'rooms' of shaded green to lie under. If the season's right you'd be foolish not to grab a few figs and heat them up on the wood fire for breakfast. Drizzle with maple and you've got yourself the most divine of nature's treats.
Explore The Property
Wander 345 beautiful acres, surrounded by lush paddocks, mountain views and cute sheep and cows to say hello to. Across the ridge line from the yurt you'll find a stand of chestnut trees, and in the other direction you can look down over the paddocks where Ned Kelly kept his stolen horses!

The Oven Cheshunt
Stop in here for some delish wood fired pizza or European bakery treats. You can sit amongst the herb garden while you sip a local beer. There's a good selection of local wines for purchase here too!
Powers Lookout
Harry Power, last of Australia’s infamous bushrangers, was captured at his hideout on 5 June 1870. Today it’s a popular spot to visit both for the superb view of the King Valley 300 metres or so below and for its part in Australian bushranger history and its connection with Ned Kelly, in particular. Pack a picnic or take a thermos for a warm cup while you overlook the valley and imagine life as a bushranger.
Paradise Falls
Discover a land of breathtaking views, spectacular rock formations and cascading waterfalls. The impressive Paradise Falls have a drop of some 31 meters to the creek bed below.
Paradise Falls
Buried deep in the King Valley and a little off the beaten track, these falls really are worth a visit. A lovely walk into a Utopian-like spot within the bush where the water plunges from such a height, back-dropped by rich red cliffs that look like they belong in the NT!
William Hovell Dam
Lake William Hovell is an all-time favourite in the King Valley. The lake offers a picturesque recreational area perfect for BBQs, walking and hiking, fishing, canoeing and four-wheel driving activities.
King River
Exploring King Valley you are spoilt with an abundance of rivers, including the well-known King River, those looking for a refreshing float down the river or water activity are spoilt for choice.
