We had a lovely stay at the stables, it’s a super cosy space. While the weather wasn’t ideal, it was the perfect place to stay in, with the fire on, listening to the rain and reading a book, snuggled ...up in the window seat. It felt secluded and private despite being close to the main house. It’s a short drive into Bright, which was perfect for us, as we wanted to be away from the school holiday rush, but close enough to town to go and grab dinner, some drinks at The Bright Brewery or go for a wander through the shops. We also visited Wandi Pub at the recommendation of Belinda and Brendan, and were not disappointed! I would definitely recommend a stay at the stables!

Afternoon Drinks At Five Acres

We'd heard that Five Acres was a beautiful spot for lunch or a drink, so on our bike ride, we stopped here for a few local ciders in the lush green gardens. It was the perfect way to spend the arvo.

The area encompasses everything from flat fire-road to incredibly steep and technical climbs and descents, from novice to expert; you will find a track to challenge you.

E Biking Around Bright

Knowing Bright was famous for the bike tracks, we knew we wanted to go for a bike ride but didn't want to put in too much hard work. We hired E-Bikes and took off for the afternoon. We stopped at a few beautiful viewing points and picked wild apples, before stopping off for a drink at Five Acres.

Billy Button Wine Cellar

We were greeted by a lovely man named Grant who gave us a tasting of local wines and recommended accompaniments based on what we felt like. The name Billy Button comes from local native flowers which you can purchase that last over five years!! And look absolutely beautiful. They were a lovely keepsake to take home with us.
Canyon Walk

Canyon Walk

Starting from Howitt Park head towards the Star Road Bridge. The track on the northern bank of the Ovens River has steep steps. Cross either of the suspension bridges to create a short or long loop. This walk takes you past a small canyon carved by the Ovens River and water races dug by early miners. Watch for birdlife and wild flowers especially in spring.

Relax with a picnic taking in the sights and sounds of the mesmerizing. In the warmer months, you can have a refreshing dip at Ladies Bath, just 400m from the car park. (1.5km - 45 mins return)
