Ellington Grove - Historic cottage on five acres

In the nostalgic village of Candelo, named after her Italian namesake, a cottage awaits. Circa 1870, Ellington Grove and it's prior occupants have seen many years pass, and so we would like to return her to you in her revived state reminiscent of the golden age of jazz and sweet cigars.

Nestled in a grove of twisted willows and giant eucalyptus trees, this historic cottage, sitting on 5 acres of land will be all yours. With two queen bedrooms, the space is perfect for two couples, as a retreat with friends or have the whole place to yourself! Ellington Grove sleeps four adults very comfortably, so we would prefer nobody sleep on the couches, although they do make for an excellent afternoon nap. At the moment we do not have the facilities for extra guests.

Hardwood floors and slate tiles run the expanse of the house complimented with luscious rugs. Two functional fireplaces stocked with firewood for those winter nights and pure french linen bedding will give you the dreamiest night's sleep. Designed with the jazz age in mind, pressed metal walls and luxurious armchairs line the space, not to mention two gorgeous deep velvet lounges to sink into next to the fire.

If you’re considering whether or not to book this cottage, just do it. You won’t be disappointed. Our stay here was an absolutely serene and blissful country escape. The town of Candelo is so charming... and if you happen to be there on the first Sunday of the month you’ll experience the Candelo Market. The cottage is charming and tastefully decorated with a sumptuous living room housing a beautiful fireplace that will keep you warm and cosy on cold nights. More importantly there is no television in the house so you can completely switch off from the unnecessary stimulus and enjoy the slow vibration of the countryside and appreciate the muted silence that comes with pastures and rolling hills. Definitely recommend Tathra if you want to visit the seaside during your stay. Karen is a lovely, kind and generous host who communicates extremely promptly for all the information you need during your stay. Take a week on this property and it will change you by the end of it.

The cottage was a relaxing long weekend away that inspired reading, cooking and listening to wonderful music. We loved the curated playlists and spent every evening on the gorgeous couches with the fi...re crackling, music playing softly in the background and relaxing together. Karen was a wonderful hostess and very responsive to questions. We very much enjoyed our stay, including the comfortable bed and would recommend this as a romantic, relaxing getaway.

Exploring The Town

Bega is a relaxed rural community that offers a tranquil lifestyle with an old fashioned country charm. We visited some thrifts and antique stores with lots of dining options around. Plus, the drive was super scenic to get here. Don't feel like driving? Stroll the quaint Candelo town instead.

There’s nothing quite like heading off on an adventure in the Australian coastal wilderness. The temperate climate of the Sapphire Coast means bushwalking can be enjoyed all year long. In summer, you can plan your walks around swimming, seeking out our estuaries and rivers and in winter climb to the snow-free peaks of our mountains. Our flora and fauna change greatly with the seasons and are the focus of careful management by rangers.

Tura Beach

The headland at Tura Beach is bordered by long stretches of white sandy beaches. There are several scenic walks in this area such as the Sandy Creek Loop, Short Point and Tura Beach Headland Walk.
