We are excited to present the next chapter of Larnook, now relocated to a beautiful new site on Westernport Bay.

Just over an hour from Melbourne, our new hideaway location is tucked away to give you total privacy but with uninterrupted and spectacular views across the water to Phillip Island.

Think carefully curated corners, beautiful finishes, unique design and all cocooned in our repurposed shipping containers.

With all the amenities you could need for an intimate escape, it is completely off-grid and self-sufficient. We believe in a shared economy and soft footprint, and Larnook is consciously powered by rainwater and solar power.

A full ensuite and king bed with panoramic views lead onto open plan, well equipped kitchen, dining area, and lounge with gas log fireplace.
Outside, the deck with outdoor lounge and hot shower follow down to the wood fire pit and further to your shaded courtyard patio.

Perfectly located for exploring the Bass Coast, with the spectacular Phillip Island and walking trails nearby, and a host of great local eateries.

Or, our personal favourite, no need to leave Larnook at all, as you relax in seclusion and soak up the incredible views in any season.

We love Larnook so much that we followed it from Dandenong Ranges to its new home in Philip Island! Such a gorgeous spot for a weekend to relax, and the interior is so well done. Confident in saying that we will be back!

Beautiful location. View was spectacular- we got everything; sun, rain, sunset, fog. Short drive to a number of towns made short trips easy to do. The Tiny Home has a beautiful modern fit out - everything you would need + more. Perfect way to spend a weekend. Would recommend.

After spending a year travelling around Australia in our caravan, we knew there was an opportunity to create an amazing luxury experience for others that encompassed so much of what we learned on the road; the charm of small spaces, the joy of simple living, and the beauty of being immersed in your natural surroundings. Combining Paul's passion for container design and Michelle's love of interiors, we have created Larnook with our first villa in the Dandenong Ranges and now on the coast at Bass (not far from Phillip Island) We know our guests will love going off the grid (in style) as much as we do.

A beautiful coastal walk through sheoaks and coastal banksia with views of Western Port cliffs and coastline. Close to the start of the walk, there is a small wetland area, home to many waterbirds. 6.7km return.

Bassine Speciality Cheeses

A lovely little stop-over to have a cheese platter. It is impossible to come back empty-handed as those cheeses are too delicious. The staff were amazingly friendly.

Feeding The Pelicans

From Midday each day along the San Remo beach, you can watch the free pelican feeding frenzy. I found it pretty entertaining to sit back and watch. They are such giant birds up close!

Maccas Farm

Just off the South Gippsland Highway, visit Maccas Farm to get your fix of local produce. With a cafe and grocer, you can find a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, herbs and spices, jams and other preserves. Enjoy a coffee while looking over the strawberry fields and surroundings hills.

Fresh And Local Dinner Spot

If you're a fan of fish this is a MUST!
The fish is caught straight out in front of the dock making it the best tasting fish we have ever had! In peak season people wait over 2 hours to try it and we now understand the hype!

We opted for the outside table so we could feel the fresh ocean breeze and take in our surroundings. There are plenty of fishless options if potato cakes, hot chips or dim sims are more your thing! A highlighting experience that's for sure!

George Bass Coastal Walk

We did the full 15km George Bass Coastal Walk and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It’s pet-friendly, which meant Freyja could join us the whole way, and the views were incredible from start to finish. The track takes you through a mix of terrain - grassy paths, rugged cliffside tracks, and sections that bring you right down to the beach. It’s manageable for most fitness levels, and the scenery makes every step worth it. Highly recommend packing water, some snacks, and giving yourself time to just take it all in.
