Additional Information

The house is a self-contained getaway. Has everything you need. It is remote so the kitchen is very well set up so you can cook up a storm. You won't see an electrical light at night apart from the buoy in the harbour. Quiet. Peaceful. The view is like nothing else.

You can access everything except one room which is locked and we use it as storage.

You will be left by yourselves. Come and go as you please. Key box for the keys.

The locals are friendly but you won't see them unless you go out and find them. Nice folks if you do bump into them on a walk.

You will need a car to get here.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Romantic getaway. It was the perfect place to relax in nature with an incredible view of the inlet.
The accommodation was well equipped with everything we needed du...ring our stay and Adam had clear instructions for everything.
We loved exploring a part of NZ that we have never been before. We walked to a scenic lookout at the Arai Te Uru reserve and had a scrumptious meal at the boat shed cafe in Rawene.
Would love to come stay again as we really enjoyed our stay :)

Enjoy the walk along the end of the beach to view the famous Koutu Boulders.

Hokianga Harbour

Opononi and Omapere offer peaceful beachside living in the heart of the Hokianga Harbour. Opononi was made famous in the mid 1950s by the tame dolphin Opo, who used to let children ride on his back.

Dune Surfing

A beautiful white sand beach sweeps all the way to the Opononi Wharf. You can catch the water taxi to the massive sand dunes on the other side of the harbour. Try the exhilarating dune surfing on boogie boards!

Hokianga Harbour

Take a stroll along the Hokianga Harbour and soak in the picturesque coastal landscape. End your walk with a drink at The Heads Hotel and continue gazing out to the stunning harbour.

Arai Te Uru Reserve

Arai Te Uru Reserve is located at the south head of the harbour. The headland offers spectacular views of the Tasman Sea and the giant sand dunes on the opposite side of the harbour entrance.

Boatshed Cafe

This stunning café located in Rawene is situated over the water with stunning views of the inlet. They serve the most delicious food and we can highly recommend the white chocolate raspberry loaf. The coffee was well worth coming back for a second time!
