Welcome to your home away from home in the heart of Victoria’s High Country.
Nestled in the tranquil riverside hamlet of Freeburgh, our expansive retreat comfortably accommodates groups of 8 to 19 guests —perfect for relaxed gatherings with family or old friends or adventure filled weekends.

From the moment you arrive, you'll feel the warmth and comfort that make you feel right at home. The interiors are thoughtfully designed with natural textures and inviting spaces that encourage relaxation and connection. Whether you're sharing stories by the crackling woodfire, enjoying a soak in the deep bath, or lounging by the pool on a sunny afternoon, every corner of the house is crafted for comfort and togetherness.

The open-plan living areas flow seamlessly, offering ample space for communal meals, games, or quiet moments with a book. Large windows frame the stunning alpine views, bringing the beauty of the outdoors in and creating a serene backdrop for your stay.

Step outside to explore the abundant activities that Freeburgh and the surrounding Bright region have to offer. From mountain biking, hiking, and fishing to paragliding, hanggliding, and 4WD adventures, there's something for every outdoor enthusiast. In winter, the nearby snowfields of Mount Hotham and Falls Creek provide excellent skiing and snowboarding opportunities.

After a day of adventure, return to the comfort of your retreat. Gather around the outdoor fire pit under a canopy of stars, share a meal prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, or simply unwind in the cozy living spaces that make this house feel like your own.

Come together, relax, and create lasting memories in Freeburgh.
We look forward to welcoming you to a place where comfort meets the charm of the High Country.

Additional Information

Our home is fully wheelchair accessible, and we’re happy to accommodate specific needs — just let us know. We can provide a hi/low bed, mobile hoist, pool hoist, and shower/toilet chair on request to ensure a comfortable stay for all our guests.

The property is set well back from the Great Alpine Road, with water sourced directly from the mountain behind us — fresh, pure, and naturally filtered. Native flora and fauna are everywhere, and the house backs directly onto state forest, with a network of tracks and trails that wind through the alpine wilderness right from the backyard.

It’s an ideal base for adventure — then return home to a crackling fireplace in winter or a refreshing dip in the pool in summer.

Please note: The final images in our gallery show the separate upstairs, two-bedroom self-contained apartment. This space can be booked in addition to the main house if you’re accommodating more than 15 guests.

Been a happy tree changer to the Alpine Valley since 1994, raised a family and bought this amazing "fixer upper" (see derelict) property 25 years ago. A labour of love and vision restoring the alpine features of our amazing property and adding more historic elements including beams, pylon's and timber sourced from the old Harrietville bridge. Utilising second hand and locally sourced materials where possible, the aim to create a sustainable yet luxurious property became a reality and was our family home for many years. A disability in the family caused the need to move closer to care facilities. As a result, the dream has become available for you to enjoy.
