Additional Information

I like to meet my guests but privacy is assured. My phone is always on if you need assistance in any way. The option for two singles, or just a single bed is available. Please provide any medical conditions we should be aware of.

Quiet countryside, surrounded by forest, mountains, and rivers. Perfect to relax after a day of activities in the Karangahake Gorge. Beautiful night skies, peace, and quiet and a firepit. The Falls Retreat restaurant is just down the road and The Waikino Hotel is nearby as well.

The best way to get around is by car or motorbike.

Being rural, the GPS tends to lead you past the main entrance. Look out for the sign on your left that says THE DOME. The long, gravel driveway leading to the chalet is a little steep at the end. Non-4x4 cars need to make sure they keep their speed up as they ascend and head to the right at the fork as the road ascends to the chalet. Smoking is allowed but not in the buildings. The dogs and cat roam freely during the day (dogs in at night), so it might be best to keep the doors/windows closed when absent and not leave any food around outside. On hot days, leave the front push window open for ventilation. Your belongings will be safe. WIFI is free but only 4G.

NO EXTRA GUESTS
The Dome only accommodates two guests maximum, either a king bed, tywo singles or one single. Guests are not allowed to bring back unexpected guests unless pre-approved by the owners.

ALCOHOL & SMOKING
Any injury or damage caused as a result of intoxicated behaviour is the sole responsibility of the guest(s) and guests are liable with regards to compensation and replacement. Smoking is allowed but not in the buildings.

FOREST EXPLORATION
Guests are requested NOT to roam the forest on the property as it is a protected area with many Kauri trees and native flora and fauna. It is also usually quite steep, slippery, and can be dangerous.

NOISE
- Please keep a respectable volume after 10pm.

CLEANLINESS - Please leave dirty shoes outside and please leave the place clean & tidy.

The Dome is situated in a beautiful piece of nature, where bird song greets you in the morning and the Llama meet you on the driveway.
Amir is the perfect host, attentive and personable but leaves yo...u to your own devices. The beauty of sitting in the still, was good for the soul. Everything you need is there and the simplicity of it, highlights, you dont need much.
We dined at the Falls Retreat which was delightful, perused the antique shops in Paeroa and found another gorgeous café that needs a shout out - The Refinery in Paeroa.
A scenic walk through the Karangahake Gorge was even better than the last time and if you have never stopped to do it, then put it on your bingo card and get it done!

Stroll To The Falls

This is one of the most popular waterfalls on the North Island. Be sure to go either early in the morning or later in the evening to miss the big crowds and get that perfect light.

Owharoa Falls

These stunning waterfalls are easily accessed from the main road on the way through the Karangahake gorge. Even in the drizzle, the falls were stunning and the lack of crowds made for a beautiful private spectacle.

Karangahake Gorge

Take in the stunning scenery as you drive through the breathtaking Karangahake Gorge but make sure you also park the car and explore the walkways and old tunnels, to discover the rich history hidden in the deep valleys. A popular bike trail is the Hauraki Rail Trail - one of the most stunning stretches of river in the country.

Rail Tunnel Loop Karangahake Gorge

Start at Karangahake Hall and walk through the foundations of the Crown Battery before climbing up onto the Western Portal Bridge over the river. Taking in the beautiful scenes, you'll feel very small in this spectacular gorge though only a short walk from the car park. It's a small investment for a massive reward!
