'Seahorse' Retreat is located on the idyllic Wattle Bank Farm - known for their Grow, Play and Stay activities. The small sustainable farm grows gourmet Oyster mushrooms for local and Melbourne restaurants, run Natural Horsemanship experiences with their 10 horses and conduct farm tours. Only 8 minutes to the glorious Inverloch beaches and wonderful wildlife walks in the Wonthaggi Heathlands and 1.5 hrs from Wilson's Prom, the once 1970's 10 metre long caravan has been repurposed into a tiny home to provide an ideal getaway for a couple or family with young children. The stay is appointed with separate master bed room with a Queen Bed, 3 Japanese style bunk beds, a bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. It also has a beautiful indoor wood heater as well as outdoor fire pit complete with hammock and seating. During your stay you can choose to be completely self sufficient or order a curated hamper showcasing local Gippsland producers. Book in for a farm tour or a natural horsemanship experience with Australia adventurer Peter Bland who co owns the farm with his wife Beatrice. During your stay, we can provide access to the gardens to add seasonal greens and citrus to your dinner or pre-order some mushrooms for breakfast. Cook indoors or in a camp oven in the fire pit or the BBQ. Rest in the hammock under the big tree whilst watching the little ones run play on the tyre swing. We love creating experiences for our guests so if there is any special occasions that you are celebrating, let us know in advance and we would love to help you curate a magical experience for your loved ones. Pets are welcome but we ask that you kindly let us know a bit about them when booking. Drop in at the farm shop to stock up on local goodies before you head home. Last but not least, hit us up with your favourite things to do and we will send you some recommendations.

Additional Information

Please note that we live on the property with our horses, chooks, dogs and a cat.

Pet Friendly on Request - We love furry friends but please call us to discuss first due to the horses as they will need to be on leash around the property. Kindly bring their own bedding so they don't sleep on the beds.

There is an open fire pit with a grill and camp oven as well as outdoor BBQ/gas burner. Gas cooking facilities are available inside the caravan perfect for a morning coffee or a cuppa on a cold evening when you'd rather snuggle up in bed looking at the stars through the skylight. Tea and coffee facilities are available.

The caravan is surrounded by a small garden complete with sun loungers and a hammock perfect to take in a great evening sunset overlooking the rolling hills of South Gippsland.

This off-grid experience operates on 12 volt and solar panels and has a compostable toilet. There are ample outlets to recharge your phones but we encourage you to leave behind the rest of the gadgets! Items such as hairdryers do pull a lot of power and we request not to use this during your stay. On cloudy days or in winter when we have less sunlight, we recommend the power is switched off during the day. There is a main switch at the front which turns off all power in one go.

There is a separate bedroom and the 3 Japanese style bunks are located off the main living area. Indoor and outdoor games are available as well as yoga mats and some day beds complete with rugs. You will find these under the bed.

In winter months ensure to dress warm for your own comfort, warm wooly comforters, additional blankets and hot water bottles are included in the cabin. We recommend boots or gum boots in the middle of winter especially if you are going to horse ride or walk the paddocks. We have a beautiful indoor wood heater for winter and those cool Victorian nights. In summer, throw open all the windows front and back and the cool air breezes through. Flyscreens keep those mozzies away.

We have 10 horses on our property - your experience could be simply giving them a pat (but no snacks!) or you could book an adventure with us - One or two-hour private lessons or a cross country trail ride if you are experienced. If you would like a hamper for your stay or pick some mushrooms and herbs from our farm, let us know in advance and you can pick those up from our shop.

Let us know what you love to do and we will send you some recommendations ahead of your stay.

I love the slowness and exclusivity of the place. Beatrice was very gracious with all our requests. It’s a perfect place for anyone wanting to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature. Loved all our experiences there especially the mushroom picking and horse patting.

We enjoyed 3 nights Seahorse cabin at Wattle Bank Farm, it feels like camping under the stars but with hot showers and a kitchen! Beatrice has obviously put a lot of thought and effort to maintain the... cabin looking welcoming and clean. Horses are beautiful :) Pete is very knowledgeable and 100% natural horsemanship is next level - we were introduced to bare back riding and horse whispering - you need to experience it to understand it. Definitely a slow kind of holiday where you wander around the veggie garden, swing in the hammock, sit in the paddock at sunset, groom the horses, collect firewood and have fun with the wood fire oven.
