Additional Information
Visit the Coach House at Vashon Field and Pond and enjoy a beautifully decorated, peaceful and restorative getaway. An immaculate, large ground floor living space attached to the east side of a large, picturesque barn, with a full kitchen including a dishwasher, woodstove (wood provided), propane BBQ (propane provided), have a pic-nic in the forest, full bath, bedroom with queen bed, room darkening shades in the bedroom, a large closet, an open loft, and a sofa bed in the main living area. 2 more guests can bring airbeds to sleep up in the loft for an additional fee per person. There are 2 twin pads provided, on the floor in the loft, that work for kids. There are outdoor lounge chairs under the arbor in the summer. You can drive all the way to the shoreline at Pt. Robinson Lighthouse Park or walk through the forest trails to our secluded, south-facing beach. There is a nice long hike from Pt. Robinson to the Maury Island Marine Park when the tides allow, and Island Center Forest and Dockton Trails are a few minutes drive away. The water in inner Quartermaster Harbor gets warm for swimming in the summer, so you might want to experience Dockton Park or Burton Beach for swimming, kyak and paddle board rentals. Seals, sea lions, heron, kingfisher, and occasionally Orca, Humpback and Grey whales can sometimes be seen from the beach. Deer, owls, woodpeckers, and songbirds frequent the bird feeder and forest right outside your door.
There is a queen bed in the bedroom, a queen sofa sleeper in the common living area, and you can bring your own airbeds or mattress pads and sleeping bag to sleep 2-4 more up in the open upper loft (additional charges per person apply).
There is a lock keypad so you can come and go as you please. The code will be the last 4 of your phone number. Parking is right outside your door. There are no stairs required as the bedroom, bathroom and sofa sleeper are all on the main floor, so it is an easy place for all to stay.
Woodland trails meander throughout the property. Bring waterproof shoes or rubber boots in winter if you want to hike about during the rainy season. It is also nice to bring a cozy pair of slippers along with you as the floors are polished cement.
The exteriors and interiors created by Lisa DeFaccio have been featured in The Seattle Times Pacific Magazine, Country Living Magazine, Sunset books, in catalogs (Cutter & Buck most recently) and in film including Anthony Bordain's "No Reservations" (aired Nov. 19, 2017 on the Pacific Northwest show). Celebrities have chosen to be married on the property - it is truly a stunning place to be! We are very familiar with how to coordinate details to assure your time here is a success and exactly as you want it to be.
*Enjoy Vashon! Check the Chamber of Commerce, O-Space, Vashon Events Vashon Allied Arts, Vashon Parks District and O-Space websites for things to do/see on the island. There are spring and fall Open Studio Art tours, musical performances, theater, dance performances, Strawberry Festival (July), wineries and cideries, Westside Stables and Island Center Farm for riding lessons, trail rides, and pony rides, the Sheepdog Classic dog trials, and lots more throughout the year. Private yoga/meditation/massage and art classes can be arranged during your stay.
*Bring a pair of cozy slippers, rubber boots or outdoor shoes for trails, and flat soled shoes are best for walking on the pavers, gravel, grass and dirt that make up the farm.

Go to the left to visit the lighthouse, or trek right to the Maury Island Marine Park, about a mile to the west. You can walk back from the lighthouse and take trails from the first driveway with the chain across it on your right as you walk up the road, take a right on the trails through the forest that come out by the barn.

The 5 acre Cottonwood property was established in 1890 as a farm for growing strawberries, cucumbers and other vegetables and transported to Seattle via mosquito fleet ships. In the early 20th century the ships were replaced by trucks that crossed the water on ferries to and from Seattle. Today, the island is still accessed by ferries that run from Pt. Defiance (Tacoma), Southworth (Kitsap Peninsula) and Fauntleroy (West Seattle).
The Cottonwood Studio (sleeps 2-3) and Cottonwood Farmhouse (sleeps up to 9) may be rented simultaneously for up to 12 guests at a time, and there is camping on the back portion of the 5 acres available if you have a larger groups or event to host.
