Welcome to our cozy Aloha Tiny House, the perfect central Pacific Northwest location in the quiet neighborhood of Dash Point, NE Tacoma. Just up the street from several beach parks, the Aloha Tiny House includes everything you need for a comfortable stay all wrapped up in a cozy tiny house with your own parking spot and private entrance and deck.
Small but mighty: Tiny house living in 135 square feet plus queen bed loft and additional storage loft. The Aloha Tiny house, private parking, entrance and deck are separate from our house below. We actually lived in the tiny house while we were building our main house and it is cozy and sturdy in all weather.
The Neighborhood: Dash Point is a quiet NE Tacoma community on the Puget Sound (salt water, not a lake) about 20 minutes from Tacoma city center and we are a few blocks up from Dash Point dock and park. Our street becomes especially quiet once everyone is home from work and the only people we see are neighbors walking their dogs.
We are not near public transportation or walking distance to any shops. You can walk down to the Dash Point dock and beach park but it is uphill on the way back.
The No-No's:
- Absolutely no smoking or drugs on the property of any kind including E-cigs, marijuana or other drugs. In addition to a fire hazard in the small, wood (tiny house) space, smells quickly soak in and we have guests and family with severe allergies.
- No parties or events.
- Not suitable for more than two people. A parent and child combination A-OK as long as parent is responsible for their child climbing the ladder to the loft.
- Neighborhood quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am.
Becoming the Aloha Tiny House: Our Aloha Tiny House evolved over time. While we lived in the original house on the property, a 600 sq ft retrofitted fishing shack from the 1920s, we needed extra storage. We wanted our storage shed to have curb appeal in the neighborhood and loved ideas from library books about tiny houses. Our tiny house plans changed throughout the building process based on what materials we could salvage and puzzle together. Most of the materials were recycled from wood salvage lots, liquidation, and 2nd hand companies. We did all the work ourselves (okay, mostly Tony with assist from Attina) and we lived in it ourselves when we tore down the fishing shack and built our house. After our building project the tiny house became a guest room but friends kept asking to rent it long-term. After one of our long-term renters moved out, a family member suggested hosting and we have been officially sharing our Aloha Tiny House since the Spring of 2017.

We were both raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and have just had our 25th wedding anniversary. Before we were married we both had the opportunity to live in Hawaii (Tony on Maui, Attina on Oahu) and love anything that involves nature and the water, whether snorkeling, surfing, kiteboarding, fishing, boating, kayaking, etc.
We play nice during the work week fulfilling work commitments but spend our free time either working on our house projects or sneaking away on the water to recharge.
