We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Steelhead Ranch! The weather was stormy during our visit, but the house was incredibly comfortable and warm. We loved sitting by the fire on the front porch ...and enjoyed stunning views of Mount Adams when the clouds parted. Goldendale is a short drive away and our family enjoyed fresh baked Greek pastries from St. Johns Monastery and Bakery. Our kids' favorite part of the trip was the WWII Memorial Stonehenge which was a short half-hour drive from the ranch. The ranch was a perfect base camp for our weekend and we recommend it highly to anyone looking for family-friendly fun and epic adventures!

Father, Grandfather, Fly Fishing Guide, Lodge Owner - Got to enjoy the day and give back some way.
Definitely familiar with hosting people as my other job as a lodge owner is even more hands on with guests than any other events that I’ve hosted. I enjoy cooking and hanging out with guests when they fish with us, hiking, live music and new roads.
Aside from family love, I have a love affair with rivers, I have floated close to 200 watersheds from Tierra Del Fuego to Alaska:)

Exploring The Ranch
The ranch is incredibly welcoming and absolutely gorgeous! On a clear day, you can see Mount Adams to the north and windmills perched on the hills to the south. The grounds were perfect for our young kids to ride their balance bikes and I personally felt rejuvenated and refreshed after exploring the ranch.
Since the ranch is secluded, there are plenty of opportunities for meditation and peaceful moments.

Columbia River
Goldendale sits on a fertile plateau north of the Columbia River between the windswept Columbia Hills and the pine-covered Simcoe Mountains of South-central Washington.
Wwi Stonehenge Monument Above The Gorge
One of the most unique places we've visited is this WWI monument that sits perfectly atop the cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge. The Stonehenge towers above memorial plaques that honour the people who served and sacrificed in World War I.
Our kids loved hiding around each and every corner of the structure and we spent a considerable amount of time gazing at the rolling hills and windmills in the distance.
There was a picnic table at the monument and I wished we had packed lunch because this place was incredibly beautiful.
Even if you only have a few minutes, plan to stop here because you won't regret it!

Coffee And Greek Goodies At St Johns Monastery And Bakery
If you're looking for a place to enjoy morning coffee and delicious hot pastry, then you need to visit St. John's Monastery and Bakery! We stopped by the bakery for hot chai and caramel lattes to-go. We also picked up a tray of fresh baklava and cheesecake cupcakes. There were so many treats and savoury Greek pastries available that we had to restrain ourselves from getting a bit of everything! We shared a savoury chicken and cheese breakfast pastry and we still think about it to this day - it's that good!
The bakery is run by some of the nicest people and they use the proceeds from the bakery to fund the construction of a new building for the monastery.

Spirit Falls
A steep, unmarked and unmaintained trail down a rocky talus slope further protects the tranquillity of this beautiful place. The turquoise water pours 33 feet into an effervescent pool with an inaccessible cavern visible behind the falls.
