Mittagong Talia | A Private Off-Grid Bush Escape

Set amongst 54 acres of private Australian bushland, just 30 minutes from historic Beechworth, Mittagong Talia offers a secluded getaway for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy nature at their own pace.

Bordering national parkland, the property is home to native wildlife, beautiful bushland and a seasonal creek, with plenty of space to explore or simply enjoy the peace and privacy.

There's plenty to enjoy without leaving the property.

Spend your days exploring the bushland, wandering down to the creek, watching for wildlife or relaxing with a book surrounded by nature. Enjoy a long soak in the outdoor bath overlooking the bush, cook a leisurely meal, or settle in beside the wood fire on cooler evenings.

With minimal light pollution, clear nights are perfect for stargazing, while the surrounding bushland provides a wonderful opportunity for birdwatching, photography and simply enjoying the outdoors.

For those wanting to venture further, the historic towns of Beechworth and Eldorado offer local attractions, cafes, wineries and plenty of opportunities to explore the region.

A genuinely off-grid experience, without sacrificing comfort.

Mittagong Talia operates entirely on solar power, with appliances carefully selected to minimise energy consumption. The home offers comfortable accommodation for up to six guests, instant hot water, cosy wool blankets, a wood-burning fireplace with unlimited firewood and Starlink Wi-Fi.

Being off-grid is part of the experience, but it doesn't mean going without the comforts of home.

A few important things to know before booking:

- Mittagong Talia is best enjoyed as a destination in itself, rather than simply somewhere to sleep between day trips. We recommend arriving during daylight to appreciate the surroundings and familiarise yourself with the property.
- As the home operates entirely on solar power, guests must only use the electrical appliances provided. Additional heaters, high-powered appliances and electric vehicle charging are strictly prohibited. Excessive power use can cause system failure and may result in additional charges.
- To protect the natural environment and wildlife, we do not permit pets, parties, events or outdoor fires.
- A maximum of six registered guests is permitted.

Mittagong Talia is an opportunity to enjoy something a little different — 54 acres of privacy, nature and the freedom to do as much or as little as you please.

I could not speak more positively about Mittagong Talia. A frequent getaway for our little family, it is perfect for a long weekend away to unwind in the beautiful and private surrounds of Chiltern Mt...-Pikot National Park. You'll see koalas in the trees and wallabies by the deck at dusk. House is wonderfully appointed with all you could need, including a spectacular outdoor bath to stargaze no matter the weather. Indoor fireplace keeps things cozy. If you like eco-tourism you'll love it here, you cannot beat the natural bush that surrounds you and the property. Seclusion and privacy is unmatched. Host Kat is a delight to deal with. We will be back!

Where do I start..? My sister and our kids needed some slow, connecting time. As soon as we landed it felt like the right place. The home was perfect and comfy, everything you need.
The Country is ri...ch and peaceful. The books in the home were a highlight for me...dropped my phone in a waterfall on the first day (died..yay! ☺️😆) and we all put devices away...bit of Netflix for the Teens in the eve 😉
The history of the area, First Nations, early colonisation/ Bushrangers make the property perfect for adventures, convo's and reflection. The combo of literature in the home was a beautiful balance of stories and history.
The conservation efforts put into the property and surroynding Country were obvious also. The Indigenous flora and fauna was gently mindblowing...kids in and out of the creek at sunset while we were in the outdoor bath after sussing out the tiny wildflowers, kangaroos .. it's everywhere if you look.
Trying with words but it doesn't quite cut it.
Thank you guys. I now have another phone to write this... might need to visit another waterfall and drop it in 🤔😉

Thanks again,
Jude and Claire and kids.

We absolutely loved our stay at this private bush retreat. Such an amazing place to get away, switch off and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The place has so much character, with beautiful artwork and lit...tle touches throughout that make it feel really unique. It's set up perfectly for either a romantic couples getaway or a relaxing stay with the family and really does tick a lot of boxes.

We loved relaxing in the outdoor bath, the coziness of sitting by the fire and the peacefulness of being surrounded by nature. Having the river flowing past the property just added to the whole experience and made it feel like a proper escape from everyday life.

The location is fantastic as well. There are so many beautiful towns, walks, lookouts and little adventures to explore nearby, while still being able to come back and enjoy the serenity of the private bush retreat.

A beautiful, peaceful and unique place to stay. We had an amazing weekend and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with plenty to explore nearby.

Getting Of The Beaten Track At Barry Falls

Barry Falls was a bit of surprise for us, while the short walk to the base of the falls was very pretty and family friendly, we felt like more of a challenge so took a right turn and headed up into the hills above the falls. Up there we found lush green valleys and epic views that felt less like Victoria and more like something in Canada. The initial scramble was a bit slippery so be sure to bring adequate footwear.

Pool And Grub At Victorias Smallest Pub

The Eldorado pub is well known as being the smallest pub in Victoria, but you wouldn't know it with the amount of locals crammed into it on a Friday night. The food was very generous and the pool table very quick. The locals told me not to tell anyone about it, so don't say I sent you.

Eldorado Dredge

The enormous Eldorado Dredge is the largest surviving dredge in Victoria. It was functional for about twenty years from the 30s and excavated important quantities of gold! You can get an up-close look at this incredible machine with a self-lead visit! Such a great opportunity to learn about Eldorado's history.
