Callignee 2 operates on eco friendly / sustainable living principles and is completely “ 100 % off the grid” Meaning: (not on the electricity grid) and therefore prides itself on its energy efficiency, self-sustainability and total independence. Rain water is harvested onsite, solar power harnessed and waste from the home goes into a Biolytic Blackwater system sunken into the earth. Callignee II is designed so that every room enjoys the north sun.
The kitchen, the node and heart of the home opens to the north directly connecting the pool and gardens so that family and guests can be catered for, either outside at the pool and its island bench servery, or inside at the dinning table or lounge room. The open plan shares a double sided fire place with water jacket ensuring all its energy is used. You will find everything you need to cook up a storm, high quality pots, pans and cooking Utensils, we also have the pantry stocked with tea, hot chocolate, salt, pepper, suger & spices, oils all the pesky things you don’t want to have to bring on holiday!
The west elevation of the living space brings the huge eucalypts into the home. Callignee II is a multi level construction with the main bedroom on the lower level with a kingsize bed leading into artistic masterpiece ensuite featuring an open glass double head shower that offers no privacy but invites you to become one with the surrounding.
The mezzanine level houses the second guest bed and a study nook — it’s a quirky space that takes advantage of the spectacular views out to the harsh and beautiful landscape. Blurring the separation of indoor and outdoor living with bi-fold doors, the dwelling interior is as minimalist and contemporary as the exterior. The walls and ceilings are Corten rust sheet and rust paints. The lines are clean and true to the elements that form them. Recycled timber from Melbourne's Princess Pier forms the ceiling of the bedroom, bathroom vanity, dining table and some flooring.
The centrally located kitchen with state of the art European 5 star energy appliances has an island bench made from concrete & steel plus a tilt window that overlooks the pool area perfect for balmy dinner parties.
The 19 meter lap pool can be viewed though a massive lounge window that also forms a part of the pool wall and doubles as a luxurious water feature. The home is surrounded by hand selected, strategically placed granite boulders, there is a pond with stepping stone access to the home or overhead there is a suspension bridge that accesses the top level.
Guests have exclusive access to the entire 5 acres property. We offer all our guests complimentary organic shampoo, conditioners and soaps. Please note: Non organic products cannot be used at the property due to the impact on the Biolytic Blackwater system and the overall impact on our environment. Please keep in mind this home is an eco friendly 100% off the grid home, the property is reliant on the state of the art solar panels and battery system along with our 40,000lt water tank.

CHILDREN AT THE PROPERTY
Callignee II is a wonderland for children to explore with 5 acres of native bushland, however this from a owners perspective can be hazardous in many ways for both parents and children that have never lived in this surrounding. Callignee II is an architecturally designed home with unique features like ponds and swing bridges and a dam next door that would be very dangerous for unsupervised young children. Children would need to be supervised AT ALL TIMES. If you have children please contact Maggie the owner prior to booking so you can be 100% comfortable when you arrive on the property.
We love animals great and small and were once dog friendly property, Unfortunately due to a situation at the property recently we now cannot allow pets, We have a lots of furry friends that live within our 5 acres, resident Echidna, Wombats, Ducks, Kangaroo and Koala that are so special to us and do not want to endanger them. thank-you for respecting our home and our furry friends.
