Plunge Into This Coastal Retreat
Adventure in San Remo, Phillip Island, VIC, AU
Vitamin Sea is exactly what the doctor recommends. The coastal retreat is located a 5-minute walk from the beach and only 2 hours from Melbourne in the small seaside town of San Remo along the Bass Coast and is only a hop, skip and bridge away from the magical Phillip Island.
We drove down with our first glimpse of the ocean as the setting sun and its pale pink sky created an ombré descent into the dark blue sea, a dreamy arrival to our San Remo coastal home for the next couple of days. The next morning, we woke to the kookaburras laughing in the light-filled three-bedroom home that was the perfect base for our oceanic adventure in the days ahead.
With so much to see on the island, we filled our days exploring shipwrecks, plunging into rock pools to see schools of fish and coral as well as dangling our feet over the jetty, devouring San Remos finest fish and chips while spotting the biggest stingray I have ever seen. In the afternoon we retreated back to the accommodation, cleaning off the sand in the outdoor shower before relaxing in the backyard hammock with a book.
After a full day of snorkelling our sun-kissed faces were greeted with an evening BBQ feast on the deck with family. The open plan layout of the coastal home encourages warm passive interactions as you can naturally wander between a sunset dinner on the deck to a glass of wine by the fire.
Alesha, our friendly host, has decked out the accommodation with everything you could need. The small touches give the accommodation a homey, family-friendly feel. In the mornings you can cook pancakes in the spacious, amenity-filled, kitchen while the kids play in the hammock and in the enclosed dog-friendly lawn. The sun floods through floor-to-ceiling windows warming you with natural light as you snuggle into the unbelievably comfy couch for an afternoon nap. The salty water and fresh oceanic air rejuvenate your soul, leaving your mind clear and your heart happy.
Are you craving a seaside retreat? It is time to take that family vacation you have been dreaming of.

- Lookout
Between YCW and Smiths Beach, you'll come across a series of secret swimming holes (accessible at low tide). The magical spot is crystal clean bluey-green water and you will spot some friendly fish, seaweed and coral along with excellent launching platforms to jump in.
A short yet steep walk from Kitty Miller Bay the SS Speke Shipwreck is best explored at a Medium to Low tide. The hidden gem is the Bow or “nose” of the ship as the rest of the wreck was scattered on impact with the reef.

Located in Cowes this plant-based cafe is the perfect spot for acai bowls and iced lattes.

Magical and scenic headlands rug the coast with succulents along the boardwalks. You might be lucky and see a penguin nesting in the sea-bird nesting areas.
