Just a 2.5-hour drive from Auckland, we reached our quaint little cabin perched in the middle of kiwi fruit orchards. As we hopped out of the car we were greeted by the lovely host and their curious cat. We dropped our bags off at the stay and decided to go for a wander. The first stop was the chicken coop which had a few cute chickens wandering about. After the chicks, we strolled into the kiwi fruit orchard for sunset which although wasn't part of the accommodation, the owner gave us permission to pick some fruit and explore. We then witnessed a stunning sunset so decided to pour a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the farm hills.

We settle in after a big day and hang out in the communal lounge room to make some dinner and play some board games together.

We woke up super early for the sunrise at Mount Maunganui which we highly recommend as it's one of the best sunrises we have ever seen, with a spectacular 360-degree view of the area. After our 2-hour return walk up the mountain, we decided to grab some breakfast and a packed lunch to go for a day hike. After all the hiking we were so tired from a full day of adventure so we head back to the cabin excited to simmer in the spa to relax and reflect on the adventures of the day.

The next morning we woke up, said goodbye to the curious cat and head home feeling relaxed after a lovely weekend at the cabin in the woods.
