Wanderlust Mountain Escape
Adventure in Leavenworth, Central Washington, WA, US
The road to this mountain sanctuary gave us three different weather patterns during our 101-mile drive from Seattle. Snow, light rain, and spotty but oh-so-bright sunshine! From the moment you drive up the short, elevated drive, you feel like you're entering a home above the trees; a welcome getaway after a week of 9–5 grind.
The massive entry made our arrival a moment to remember. Wooden ceilings high above and bright windows all over, the light danced on every aspect of this cozy cabin. Within 10 minutes of our arrival, the snow started to fall in dramatic fashion, and nothing says Pacific Northwest like enjoying a hot tub in a snowstorm – we couldn't get enough. We spent our evening making tacos and laughing around the crackling fire before calling it a night in our cozy beds.
After a cold, snowy night, we drove half an hour to Leavenworth for some coffee at J5 and an amazing breakfast at Tumwater Bread & Pizza. We spent the rest of the morning relaxing at the cabin with the pups, prepping ourselves for a sunset hike at Lake Valhalla. It was another 30 minutes or so to the Smithbrook Trailhead, where we began our breathtaking, seven-mile roundtrip hike to one of the more beautiful lakes in Washington. Sit above the lake for incredible panoramic views, or make your way down to the water for some chilly swimming! Following our hike, we decided that drinks and dessert were in order. We enjoyed a smoked Old Fashioned and a decadent tiramisu when we ventured back into Leavenworth.
With two days of relaxation, adventure, and laughs behind us, we finally had to say goodbye to our cozy cabin in the woods. What a perfect way to spend a weekend.

A small, rustic restaurant in the heart of Leavenworth with a quaint and personable bar in the back. Our tiramisu and smokey Old Fashioned was the perfect end to our evening!
An amazing, seven-mile roundtrip hike to one of the most beautiful lakes in Washington. Lake Valhalla is incredible year round, but really pops in the fall with bright red, orange, and all the green you can handle!

Lake Wenatchee is a large lake with camping, boating, and beach activities for everyone. It's always a photogenic spot and you'll enjoy all the swimming and barbecue action you can handle!
An amazing spot with not only an excellent cup of joe, but also a plethora of merchandise. We spent an hour looking through mugs, honey, and coffee, but had to drag ourselves out of there to make our breakfast time!
The best breakfast in town! Wow, the breakfast sandwich and avocado toast were no joke in this charming restaurant, which had an industrial yet rustic feel. With friendly staff and great prices, Tumwater was just what we needed to start our day.
