River Hikes and Hot Tub Nights
Adventure in Auburn, Greater Seattle, WA, US
Upon arrival, we walked through this beautiful home and out to the back patio. We were stunned by the sheer size of Mount Rainer across the valley, and on a clear day, the view of the mountain from the backyard seems almost unreal. Our first evening was spent enjoying dinner and drinks by the fire, catching up with friends, laughing, and toasting our toes. Our hosts had gone above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and special. They even left a thoughtful arrangement of local goodies, including fresh eggs from their neighbour's farm!
Typical Washington rain drizzle moved in the next day but it didn’t dampen our spirits. Morning hot tub? Yes, please! Later that day, we explored the Green River Gorge Resort. As we started down the winding stairs to the river below, I felt like I was stepping back in time to Washington in the 1970s. This spot is very unique. It has many waterfalls, a cave with a swimming hole, huge moss-covered boulders, a thick old-growth forest, and a natural spring. The river cuts through the gorge and we walked along its sandstone banks admiring the natural beauty. After this absolutely stunning but soggy hike, we made our way to the historic Black Diamond Bakery and Restaurant to warm up with a burger and beer. On our last day, we were sad to say goodbye to this beautiful home but left feeling well-rested and relaxed.
