Unwinding at Dash Point
Adventure in Tacoma, Greater Seattle, WA, US
Driving through the idyllic neighborhood to Dash Point gave us a rush of excitement as the shores of Commencement Bay peaked out from rows of gorgeous houses overlooking the water. Pulling up to the Aloha Tiny Home, we were greeted by Finn, the owner's white terrier, who welcomed us to a cozy escape from the PNW rain.
Once inside, we were immediately charmed by the inviting interior, featuring a small but well-stocked kitchen, a bookshelf full of books and games to keep us occupied on rainy days, and a moveable ladder that led to the lofted bed.
On our last morning, we got a glimpse of the Washington springtime, and enjoyed coffee on the deck with a stunning view of the bay beyond.

Downtown Tacoma has many streets and spots to explore, and our first stop was Antique Row. At the head of this stretch is Bostwick Cafe, a small coffee shop located in the historic Bostwick building, which has been a fixture in Tacoma since the late 1800s. Offering coffee, quick sandwiches, and a chance to immerse yourself in the town's history, Bostwick is the perfect start to a walk past shop after shop of antiques, oddities, and one-of-a-kind finds.
The Museum of Glass, in downtown Tacoma, is an immersive experience from the moment you step onto the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. As you walk over the bustling highway, you are met with gorgeous handblown glass pieces that hang above you and span the walls of the display cases. The iconic, conical shape of the museum's hot shop greets you at the end of the bridge, and a sweeping staircase leads you into the lobby. Be sure to check the museum's schedule to see if you can catch a live hot shop demonstration!
Included in your stay at the Aloha Tiny Home are two inflatable paddleboards and a kayak. We took a paddleboard out for an early morning jaunt around the pier. Keep your eye out for any seals that like to swim close to shore!
The Norpoint Way Trailhead marks one of many entrances to Dash Point State Park. The minute you step onto the trail, the suburbia of Tacoma disappears and you are fully surrounded by lush trees and the sound of a creek nearby. The Know It All Kid Trail is a quick and easy loop if you're looking for a bit of fresh air, but maps at the start of the trail detail countless other fantastic areas to explore.
This is a classic, chrome-seat diner that serves big breakfasts and has a delicious take on the eggs Benedict featuring a croissant. Seats fill up pretty quickly once brunch time rolls around, so be sure to get in early.
