Location that will Take your Breath Away

Gift this
You crest over the hill and your jaw drops – the view here is mind-blowing. Once you out of the car and see where your tent is set up, you'll be speechless. There's even a deck, where you can sit for hours and take everything in.

Every time I came out of my tent, I stopped and just stared at the view – it truly never grew old. But when you do wrench your eyes away from it , you'll be pleasantly surprised by all the home comforts you still have while feeling like you're on top of a mountain.

There's running hot and cold water, a well-equipped barbecue, and the exact same toilet you probably have at home. The heater will keep you toasty, while the outdoor fire pit is the perfect place to sit around until late in the evening, staying cozy while chatting. Trust me when I say you'll want to stay up, because once the sun goes down, you'll be treated to an amazing star show (on a clear night).

There are plenty of hikes that begin from your tent – just pick a direction and start walking, but take provisions, obviously. If you're looking for something a bit more urban, Leavenworth is only a 40-minute drive away and you can spend a whole afternoon here eating, drinking, or even floating the river.

Breakfast at Argonaut Coffee & Biscuits
Argonauts put the word "biscuits" in their title, so they must've been confident in their biscuits from the beginning, and rightly so! They are deliciously flaky and have both sweet and savory options along with a variety of sides. The coffee is great too, and there's a dog-friendly patio with heaters to enjoy it all with mountain views. They also have treats for your four-legged friends.

Just come early because they close at 3pm.

        Lunch at Icicle Brewing
If you throw a stick in Leavenworth, you'll hit a brewer. Icicle is one of the better options, in my opinion, because they have beer AND cider, as well as an outdoor patio and food! We had lunch and a couple drinks before heading out for an afternoon excursion. The patio is dog friendly and they have water bowls for your four-legged friends....

Dessert at Whistle Punk Ice Cream Co
It can get pretty hot in Leavenworth during the summer, so what better way to cool off than by indulging in some homemade ice cream? Whistlepunk has a TON of flavors, which they rotate regularly, but I opted for an old favorite in salted caramel....

            Easy Walk in Downtown Leavenworth
If you're overindulged at one of the many eateries in Leavenworth, you can find an easy walk down by the river called Blackbird Island. There are a couple of different paths, but they're all easy, and you can even take a dip in the river if you like – be warned that it is glacial....

              Stargazing at White Aspen
If it's a clear night, you have to either stay up late or set an alarm for the middle of the night. Once you've done that, go out and walk 100 feet away from the tent and close your eyes for 60 seconds. When you open them, you'll see a starry sky unlike any you've seen before....
