Historic Stay on the South Coast
Adventure in Pambula, South Coast, NSW, AU
What a beautiful, rustic stay we had at Toad Hall in Pambula. Located in the centre of town, this historic building has had many past lives but is now a super cosy and comfortable place to rest your head for a weekend. Decorated in antiques, the Toad Hall felt homely and was very welcoming.
The short walk across the road to pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops made eating out so easy and accessible – I don't think you could get a better location if you tried. Having such central accommodation was a big win for us, and after settling in and enjoying a red wine by the fire, we ventured across the road to enjoy some classic pub food.
The next day, after a morning coffee and refuel at the local cafe Toast (which was delish!), we headed out to adventure around the local area. We explored some insanely beautiful coastal areas including Ben Boyd National Park, which is home to the famous Pinnacles and Nethercote Falls. On the way home, we stopped in at Longstocking Brewery for a cider and a wood-fired pizza.
Overall, we had a beautiful, relaxing stay at Toad Hall and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore the South Coast.

Things We Did
- Hike
- Waterfall
- Brewery
Drive 15 minutes out of Pambula towards Eden and you'll find these incredible cliffs of red and white sandstone. Ancient and towering, they are best seen from the lookout point, which is located halfway around a one-kilometre loop trail and very easy for all fitness levels. If you're feeling game, you can venture down to the base to see these magical cliffs up close.
A short and steep hike down (and then back up) will lead you to this hidden gem – a tiny waterfall that flows all year round. We were lucky to have it to ourselves and we enjoyed spending time in the secluded scenery. There are many pools above the falls that would be perfect for a cooling dip come summer.
After a day of adventures, I highly recommend stopping in for a locally crafted beer or cider, alongside some of the best wood=fired pizzas I've ever tried (try the garlic and margherita). This brewery is located in the popular Oaklands area and the venue is super cool, with greenery hanging from the ceilings inside. Most importantly, the food is to die for!
