Artist's Studio on Bainbridge Island
Adventure in Bainbridge Island, The Islands, WA, US
Claudia's garden home is a serene oasis cultivated by a true artist. My partner and I arrived in the evening, during the middle of another busy work week, and were looking forward to some quiet time and a break from day-to-day life.
Claudia welcomed us with a tour, introducing us to the chickens and showing us every part of the property (including a salvaged train caboose now used as an art studio). Her space is full of light and color, with tall ceilings and an earthy design palette. We were thrilled to find fresh fruit and a spectacular (still warm) rhubarb pie, baked from scratch, as a welcome gift. Just as impressive was the private patio's view of the Puget Sound as the sun was setting.
There was so much to do in the area and we didn't have to go far to find it. Fay Bainbridge Park was a quick walk away, with lush green woods and a stunning beach with a view of Mt Rainier. But the studio mostly made you want to stay in, cozy up with a good book, or paint something. And days later, I'm still dreaming about that rhubarb pie.

Things We Did

- Café
The Bloedel Reserve is a must-see when visiting Bainbridge. A historic, 150-acre forest and garden, it boasts miles of hiking trails through beautiful scenery, including a Japanese garden, multiple ponds, and the striking home of Prentice and Virginia Bloedel.
A locally operated public recreation area sitting on the northeast tip of Bainbridge Island. On a clear day, you get a beautiful view of Mount Rainier.
Pegasus Coffee boasts an impressive exterior: overgrown with moss and greenery, it immediately catches the eye. But the quality of the coffee rivals that of the best Seattle spots, and they have a large outdoor area for reading the morning news or working from home.
