Cabin by the Sea

We battled our way through Friday arvo traffic & headed to the beach. Located on the South East Coast, Inverloch is a quaint beachside town surrounded by natural beauty. Less than 2 hours from Melbourne and just over an hour away from the wonders of Wilsons Prom, it’s the perfect spot to escape to and immerse yourself in nature.

Just off the beaten track, down a dirt road, in the picturesque town of Inverloch lies Beach Cabin ‘Berry’. Vanessa and her gorgeous dogs Olive & Reg welcomed us with a tour of the grounds. The property was filled with charm and style. Taking in the starry night next to a crackling fire we ate then retired to our modern, rustic cabin. We rose to the most breath-taking golden pink sunrise over the ocean, watching from the comfort of our bed. Whatever the weather this is the place to be, we kept cozy by the fire in our cabin one stormy night and watched the lightning show in the sky.

The large property boasts sophisticated, cozy cabins & glamping tents beautifully styled by the host. The communal spaces are fully equipped, and the décor is effortlessly curated with bespoke handmade homewares and refurbished furniture. The kitchen is incredible, and there’s a utensil for every occasion, herbs, fruit and veg from the garden and fresh farm eggs all generously supplied. There are fireplaces galore, an espresso machine, an outdoor copper shower with views of the neighbouring cows, a hammock for stargazing, plush bedding and fresh flowers. The attention to detail leaves you feeling absolutely spoilt. This is the ideal spot to escape and unwind on a romantic weekend away in rustic luxury.

Inverloch Charters and Boat Hire offer rentals by the hour. We hired a fishing rod & bait and took a small boat out into the inlet. Other than catching a variety of different seaweed we got no bites! The gentle bobbing of the boat was memorizing as we watched the grey clouds slowly rolling in....
We stopped in after a long day of hiking at Wilsons Prom for a bite to eat. This wonderful Art Deco Hotel with a large beer garden has hearty pub food and excellent local wine....

Epic boulders line the beach at Whisky Bay, we climbed and clambered around feeling like big kids, rewarding our weary muscles with a swim in the crystal clear waters as the sun went down. Our bodies recharged by the salt water & our minds awakened by the stunning views. Whisky Bay has to be the best beach I’ve discovered, believe the hype....

Making the most of our location, we headed to Wilsons Prom for the day, just over an hour drive from Inverloch. Striding the path through the thick forest we climbed Mt Oberon. There’s a rock-face shelf at the top where you can just stop and take it all in. 360 degrees views of awesome. The rain had cleared, the sun came out and the globe put on a show, the world and everything in it, was put into perspective....

This little picturesque bay has it all. There’s a natural rock pool blocked off by a concrete wall dotted with children snorkelling and chasing fish. The grassy sand dunes are home to nesting birdlife.
You can relax and swim or walk the flat rocky surfaces filled with pools and sea life as the waves crash nearby covering you in ocean spray.

Just before dusk we stopped off to explore the unique moon-like rock surfaces along Cape Patterson Rd Beach. Luckily for us the tide was out so we were able to venture into The Caves hidden in the side of a cliff. The grand scale was absolutely stunning and worth the hunt!...
Epic rocks protrude from the beautiful coastline; the lookout is located high above the shore showcasing stunning views of the jagged formations....
