Feeding Highland Cows at a Container Home Farmstay

After an afternoon on boardwalks at Silver Lake's wetlands, I drove down a beautiful fern-lined gravel road through the trees and was greeted by two sweet dogs and their kind owners, welcoming me to their property and wishing me a great stay. Seeing the container home, I knew it would be.

The two-story home felt so spacious–the upstairs bedroom has tons of natural light and overlooks the Highland cow pasture in the back. Did I mention the suspension bridge? So cool!

The next morning, I enjoyed coffee on the deck before driving 10-minutes to a beach on the Columbia River for a swim and to soak up some rays. Dinner at McMenamins meant seared tuna and a marionberry brew before heading back to the farm where I got to feed the Highland cows! They are BIG and have intimidating horns, but they were sweet! This container home is more than just a place to stay, it’s an entire farm stay experience, and one I’ll never forget!
