Sunset Valley
Adventure in Waikato, NZ
We knew that the Tui Sunset Cabin was going to be the perfect escape to get away amongst nature for the weekend — and only a short, hour-and-a-half drive from Auckland's hustling and bustling city.
We arrived to find an expansive deck overlooking a valley with sweeping views of the countryside. The only sounds were of birds chirping and the river flowing. We wanted to make the most of the purple-lit sky so we put together a platter, got a glass of wine and watched the sunset from the floating deck.
The next morning when we woke up we made the 10-minute drive straight into town for a coffee from The Depot and a stroll along Pollen Street for the Saturday morning markets.
The weather was unbeatable so we decided to take full advantage of the beautiful Coromandel coastline and made the one-hour drive across to Coromandel town for some brunch and shopping. On our journey back we stopped at Te Kouma Beach and dug our toes into the golden sand. When we got home we took a much-deserved afternoon nap in the comfy bed and then headed to the wharf to watch the sunset and enjoy some fish and chips.
Waking up the next morning we made use of the fully equipped kitchen and cooked some eggs to go with the freshly baked loaf of bread provided by our host — this was an absolute highlight. There's plenty to do in the area and the Tui Sunset Cabin is perfect for relaxing and just soaking in the views, we can't wait to come back!...
