Peaceful Stay on the McKenzie River
Adventure in Lane County, Willamette Valley, OR, US
We checked-in in the evening, just as the sun was gleaming through the trees and speckling the back porch. Beside us, on the neighboring front porch, we heard folk music playing and watched as a lovely couple danced and laughed. After a quick walk to the river, we settled in for the night, with a cup of tea and a good book.
The morning started slowly as we made coffee and oatmeal and watched the haze move up into the trees from the river. We enjoyed our coffee outside on the porch, with the sound of the river nearby. Once we were fueled for the day, we took a drive along the old McKenzie Highway, winding between lava flows and naming every mountain we could see in the distance.
After a day of adventuring, we stopped at the McKenzie General Store and ordered up a tasty late lunch as we perused the store for locally made snacks.
We loved how slow time moved during our stay, how quiet and relaxing our mornings and evenings were, and we returned home feeling refreshed!...
