Hiking the High Country
Adventure in Harrietville, High Country, VIC, AU
Darkness had descended upon the high country as we crunched our way up the gravel driveway to the Black Mamba House; warm and inviting, against the cold foothills of the Australian Alps. We settled in by the crackling fire for a night of wine and laughter.
The cacophony of Kookaburras served as our alarm to have us snaking our way up the narrow tracks of Mt. Feathertop’s western flank. The pale dawn sunlight filtered through the canopy of towering eucalypts overhead. A tiring 9 hours later, as the clouds rolled in, we returned to our home away from home for a well-earned dinner.
The following morning we watched the Kangaroos feeding in the front garden before having our own brunch at nearby cafe, Ginger Baker. A short drive to Eurobin Falls rounded off a great weekend away before our return to Melbourne; weary, yet wholly rejuvenated....
