A peaceful getaway in the heart of West Gippsland

After a hectic week working in the city, a relaxing getaway to reconnect with nature was just what we needed. With outstanding views, a cozy fireplace and a spa bath, Anderley Cottage have everything you need for a romantic retreat into the hillside of West Gippsland. Located about two hours from Melbourne, in Yarragon.

Upon arrival, the hosts, Lee and Andrew, welcomed us and showed us their beautiful land and the cottage. They made us feel at home and offered us good recommendations in the area. We spent our first evening cozying up in the cottage; taking on the views, and watching the sunset on the balcony with a BBQ and a glass of wine. We may have even jumped into the spa bath for a well-deserved moment of relaxation.

The next day, we went into town to see the local Craft & Produce market – this market takes place every last Saturday of the month from 9 am to 2 pm. We also stopped at the local Gippsland Food and Wine shop to buy local produce for lunch and dinner. We ventured to Mount Worth State Park and then spent the rest of the afternoon playing cards, making friends with Charlie & Jaffa (the two steers roaming around the cottage), and drinking beer with a view.

On the last day, we enjoyed a slow morning – enjoying the breathtaking view from the comfort of our bed one last time. We had breakfast on the balcony to the sound of the birds and had one last spa bath treat. We could have stayed in Anderley forever. The whole cottage and setting invite us to slow down and be in the moment. But all good things must come to an end. We packed our bags and decided to explore the region a little further and hunt for waterfalls before returning to Melbourne.

Narracan Falls is easily accessible, just a few meters from the car park. A picnic area is also available! Due to the heavy rains in the past few weeks, the waterfall was huge. Gorgeous!

A MUST-VISIT in West Gippsland. Toorongo Falls is absolutely stunning. Make sure to take the 2.2 km loop walk to see both Toorongo Falls and Amphitheatre Falls.
