Kickin back at Kirwood Coastal
Adventure in Blairgowrie, Mornington Peninsula, VIC, AU
I've always believed there's no such thing as 'bad weather'; just that which brings the chance to slow down. Embracing the torrential rains and gale-force winds that swept across our Blairgowrie weekend, we got the wood fire roaring, put the kettle on and took the opportunity to kick back and relax.
When the rain eased, we barefooted it to the Back Beach, just a stone's throw from The Kirwood Coastal. With windswept hair and salty smiles, we watched the wild ocean, breathing in our much needed dose of Vitamin Sea.
As pockets of sunshine made their way over the Mornington Peninsula, the light-filled living spaces of our gorgeous revamped 1940s beach shack only became more beautiful. Sun beams flooded the alfresco area, and a huge North facing window wall brought the outside in. The soaring skylight above the amazing timber bathtub did the same. Filling the hot tub, adding some bath salts and sinking into its depths took relaxation to the next level!
As night fell we were enticed to light up the outdoor wood oven and watch dinner cook over the flames. We settled into the simplicity of being with friends in such an inspiring space; swapping travel stories and reconnecting over shared memories. A myriad of local adventures awaited us for the next day.

This picturesque spot with clay coloured cliffs and soft sand is the perfect spots to watch the wild ocean and get your ocean therapy. At low tide you can spot the Dragon's Head rock formation.
Polperro Dolphin Swims has been sharing the wonders of Port Phillip Bay for over 35 years. The original dolphin swim operator in the Bay, ‘Polperro’ allows you to get up close and personal with these incredible creatures of the sea.
The wild side of the Peninsula has beaches aplenty with rockpools and rocky outcrops that meet the sand and waves. Year round these beaches make an exciting spot to visit.
