Wild Island
Adventure in French Island, Mornington Peninsula, VIC, AU
Friday afternoon, as the sun setting over Western Port Bay, we set off for a weekend adventure onboard the ferry to French Island. The boat trip over was an adventure in itself! We already felt like there was an unforgettable weekend ahead.
Arriving at the tiny house, we were in awe of the expansive surrounds, filled with beautiful gumtrees and nothing but nature. Our greeting committee were the cutest koalas! We quickly settled in by the warm crackling fire with a glass of wine, and set about planning our adventures ahead.
We spent the weekend wandering the peaceful national parks and beaches, saw heaps of wildlife (the koala theme continued), and were welcomed by lovely locals who gave us some hot tips on where to go, and what to see.
The tiny house is the perfect place to unwind and take in the magnificent view, feeling completely free from the outside world. We left feeling rejuvenated and had learned a lot about this island, that I never knew even existed.

Things We Did
- Beach
- Walk
- Winery
- Grocer
Just one of the many walking tracks on the island, a beautiful and easy walk along the white sand.
Starting at the general store, we walked the road along "Koala Alley" seeing heaps of koalas with no one around. Ask at the general store and they will give you a map.
We visited The French Island Vineyards being a highlight of the weekend, Nena was so welcoming and knowledgable about all things French Island.
At the French Island Vineyards, they have created a beautiful coastal walk through the trees and down to the waters edge, we did it with a glass of wine in hand and took in the surrounds that way.
We walked the Pinnacles track up to the top of the hill with some amazing panoramic views and native flowers along the way.
The General store is the place to go for anything you need on the island, including instructions on where to walk, and a great feed
