Somewhere in the woods
Adventure in Termeil, South Coast, NSW, AU
I arrived at Soul Wood in Bawley Point on a rainy overcast day, but it sure did set the scene for this cosy cabin in the woods. I began my stay by warming up with a cuppa and a good book - Soul Wood provides some great reads!
After perching myself on the bed, I felt fully immersed in nature by the two full-framed glass windows. I have to admit not much reading got done, I was simply in awe of the beauty that surrounded this tiny home. The native gum trees, taller than the eye can see, made me and my problems feel so insignificant. I grounded myself in nature, feeling present, yet so lost, lost somewhere in the woods of Balwey.
An outdoor bath under the stars completed my first night at Soul Wood. The next morning, I awoke to the most beautiful sunrise flickering through the canopies of the trees - Mother Nature was putting on a show. The best part was that I watched the whole show from the comfort of cosy sheets and a warm bed - I didn't need to move at all!
My days were spent exploring many of the local beaches, some of my absolute favourite places in NSW. BawleyPoint, Pretty Beach, and Burril Lake, just to name a few. But the highlights were definitely retreating back into the unplugged world of Soul Wood to enjoy the peacefulness of all that surrounds the property. Feeling rejuvenated, somewhere in the woods.

Things We Did
- Beach
- Kayak
- Walk
Early mornings watching the sunrise over Bawley Gantry. A quintessential spot to enjoy a summertime dip. I even spotted a few stingrays and would be the perfect location to watch the whales swim past during migration.
A kayak along Burrill Lake is a sure way to spend a good day on the South Coast NSW. Kayaks and SUPs can be hired locally. I enjoyed as peaceful paddle upstream, in awe of the pristine waters and tranquil surroundings.
Only a short 10 minute drive from the property is my favourite hidden beach on the South Coast. Park at Meroo Head Campground and take the walk out to the headland. A beautiful sight awaits.
