Autumn getaway in a cosy Log Cabin

What could be better than a relaxing mountain getaway to escape the concrete jungle of Melbourne? Welcome to Tewksbury Lodge!

Located in Porepunkah, in the beautiful High Country, we arrived at this cozy, hand-crafted Canadian-style Log Cabin on a cold & dark Friday night. We were immediately charmed by this unique, beautifully decorated accommodation, and by the little touch left by the owners on our arrival: the fire was already cracking and a good bottle of wine was sitting in the kitchen as a warm, inviting welcome.

The lodge is perfectly equipped with everything we needed. Inside, there are two bedrooms with comfortable bedding (and an electric blanket for those cold winter nights), a fully equipped kitchen, a dining table, lounge area with a fireplace - and the bathroom has a superb spa bath.

Outside, the spacious veranda features a BBQ, comfortable rocking chairs and an open-air dining area. Not far from the cabin is also an outdoor fire pit area.

We mainly spent the weekend cozying up in the cottage; watching Netflix from the reclining loungers while sipping a glass of wine, cooking a nice BBQ breakfast on the verandah to the sounds of Kookaburras and enjoying the sunset by the outdoor fireplace, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. We may even have jumped into the river for a cold plunge before running as fast as we could to the spa bath for some well-deserved relaxation.

The lodge was fantastic but we also had a wonderful time exploring the surrounding area. Tewksbury Lodge is perfectly situated for discovering the region’s must-sees: Bright is THE place to visit in Autumn for its warm colorful tones, Mt Buffalo National Park offers incredible lookouts and hikes to explore and the Murray To Mountains Rail Trail is renowned for its biking adventures.

We could have stayed there forever! If you're looking for a place to unwind and recharge, this is the perfect spot for you!

There are many lookouts and stops along the way in Mt Buffalo National Park to enjoy the surrounding mountains. The windy road to reach the top is absolutely gorgeous.
