Sinning & Winning in the Church of Love
Adventure in Moorooduc, Mornington Peninsula, VIC, AU
The Historic Moorooduc Church is a beautifully restored historic building, located about 8-minutes from Mornington. Originally built in 1863, and just oozing with charm & character, it did not disappoint me one bit!
The church enjoys open-plan living, with the original timber floors and church doors. Honestly, I felt like all of my prayers had been answered - especially when I was greeted with a bottle of French champagne, a handwritten welcome letter, and enormous strawberries!
It was all quite impressive although I have to say the pure highlight feature for me was the heated floors in the bathroom! I lay on the bathroom floor to take in this simple pleasure and yes... I may have drifted off, waking 30 minutes later. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it friends! DeeeeeeLUXE plus!
I slept peacefully that night in the Church and woke to the sunshine dancing through the windows. I hit the beach straight away and went for a cold plunge to start the day! Mills Beach was lined with the cutest beach huts and not a human nor dog in sight! I watched the waves roll on in while I rolled easy into my day taking in those big beach air breaths.
I wandered into town and followed my heart along the boardwalk to the pier, chatting with the fisherhumans eager to land a fish for their supper. However the only thing biting this day was the sunshine - and by golly she was delightful!
I skipped back to my car and toured back to the sweet little church, smelling the flowers on the way in, and watched the bees buzzing away in the salvia hedge that surrounded the abode. I took a long rainwater shower and washed away my sandy toes with the day. I took my sweet time getting into my PJs that night cos after all, those heated floors were golden in my eyes and I couldn’t get enough of them! Sounds like sinning and winning to me friends! I fixed myself a chai tea and snuggled up in bed watching some Olympics on the telly. As the day faded away, so did I, falling asleep peacefully in the charming church with a grateful heart.
Check-out day arrived and I closed the restored Church door feeling quite restored myself. It was the escape I needed to fill my cup and my heart. The hosts live in a separate area on the property although I was impressed with how much space I had, including my own parking space and garden!

Things We Did
- Beach
- Walk
- Lookout
There's parking at the lookout of Mills Beach Lookout and then I walked up the hill and followed the track to the beach. It was super quiet when I was there. I went for a cold plunge, its winter so it was really fresh! Did some yoga while taking in the sun. You can walk along the entire beach into Mornington/Town. The huts are super cute too here to check out.
Walked along the Mornington pier chatting to the fisherhumans. The sun was out, so it was a beautiful day to explore! You can follow the boardwalk all the way from in town to the end of the pier. I could smell the fish and chip shop too nearby which looked super busy although I had already had my lunch that day. - let me know if you've been there and tried it!
Instead of following the road to the Mornington Pier, I took the walking track through the park and along the cliffs. There's a gorgeous view of the township as well as contract of colours in the cliffs. Several lookout points along here as well as access to the rockpools and sea.
