Two Story, Two Dogs & Twenty Years In Between
Adventure in Flinders, Mornington Peninsula, VIC, AU
It had been twenty years since I last saw my siblings, Colin and Kirsty, back in high school, and there was so much to catch up on. Kirsty and I were in the same year, and Colin was one of my high school boyfriends from back in the day! Ha! A lot has changed since then—Kirsty has built a successful career as an architect, gotten married, and even welcomed a furry friend into her life! She’s incredibly impressive and just as funny as I remember.
Their two-story house was situated on a spacious grassy lot just a short skip from the beach! It featured two bedrooms and one bathroom downstairs, with a similar setup upstairs, plus a gigantic open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area. The atmosphere was warm, and the wood fire added to the cozy vibe.
Our reunion in Flinders felt like a nostalgic trip down memory lane as we shared food, laughter, and stories of high school love letters from our sweet teenage romances. #borntotry #doublelol
The next morning, we set off with the two furry companions for a walk along the beach and pier before reaching the township of Flinders. We discovered a wood-fired sourdough bakery, art galleries, and a top-notch general store! We enjoyed lunch, laughed, and picked up some homemade apple and rhubarb pie to take back to our two-story retreat. We lounged on the back lawn, which was a sight to behold if you're a lawn-loving freak like me! We basked in the sun like lizards, and a few of us might have dozed off—two dogs definitely did, and maybe even a human or two. A feeling of contentment settled in as evening approached.
We lit the outdoor fire while our friend Elysia prepared an incredible platter! Colorful Colin put his hospitality skills to good use in the kitchen, and that night’s dinner was simply delicious. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and our souls felt equally fulfilled.
As the self-proclaimed Queen of Bubble Baths, I indulged after my refreshing ocean dip that morning! Husband Shane treated us all to pancakes, and we definitely had pie for breakfast. With our hearts full of new memories, we left our two-story home and the past twenty years behind us.
Kirsty was eager to share her knowledge of the amazing Hawkes Farm she’d heard about, so naturally, we followed our noses and embarked on an adventure there. A bucket full of new memories and some tasty potato wedges filled us with sunshine bliss that fine afternoon. We parted ways, knowing it wouldn’t be another twenty years before we saw each other again. I’m truly grateful for the time spent reconnecting our friendships in Flinders. Thanks for joining me on this wonderful ride!

Dogs welcome along the Flinders Pier and we followed our noses to the sea!
The sweetest of towns. Woodfire Sourdough Bakery is worth a view and highly recommend wondering into the General Store and Art Galleries.
Great little find! Hawkes Farm full of home-grown produce! There's outdoor picnic tables and make sure you try their home grown potato wedges. Delishhh!
