Hideout by the water’s edge & heart filling adventures

I arrived at Hideout Three, warmly welcomed by the horses roaming the nearby paddocks. The tiny home sat right on the water’s edge of a large dam, where ducks were living their best lives.

It was indeed a tiny home, but like most, it had everything you needed: a large bed adorned with luxurious linen and big windows overlooking the water. Morning cuppas in bed are going to be a treat here! The kitchen was equipped with all the essentials and offered views into the horse paddock. At the other end of the abode, the bathroom featured delicious-smelling body wash.

As the sun set, I settled in for the evening, lighting an outdoor fire and pouring myself a glass of red wine. It was a peaceful night—exactly what my traveling soul needed.

The next day, I ventured out to explore nature, eager to find a secret swimming hole! I drove to Carrington Falls lookout, where I checked out several viewpoints and waterfalls. They were pretty spectacular, and I loved discovering the different kinds of wildflowers and streams along the way.

Feeling peckish after my adventures, I found a nearby picnic area called Nellie’s Glen. However, I didn’t eat much because I was too excited about finding that dreamy secret swimming hole! #Jackpot. And there wasn’t another human in sight—it was just nature and me, and I was in complete bliss.

That night, I settled in for an early night, snuggling up with a warm cup of tea and my book. I fell asleep, lost in visions of the day’s living dream.

The following morning, I walked around the dam and chatted with the horses before checking out of the tiny abode. I left feeling calm, with the country air in my lungs and a heart full of adventures. But there was one more spot I wanted to explore, so I did—of course!

I set out to find the ‘twisty trees’ that a little birdie had told me about, nestled in the National Park. As I made my way through the rainforest, I spotted a lizard chasing the sunshine, just like I was. And then there it was—the magical ‘twisty tree.’ It felt as if Mr. Lizard was lighting the way. The tree was magnificent, even better than any picture I had seen. I admired its beauty for a few moments before continuing on to the waterfall.

It took a lot of self-control not to jump into the falls, but I managed to keep my clothes on and walked away dry! Just as I arrived back at the car park, I spotted Mr. Superb Lyrebird—the bird I had been eager to see. And gosh, was he quick! Quicker than the sunshine-chasing lizard, that’s for sure! But oh, so lovely—just like this wonderful adventure.

Easy pezy walk to Carrington Falls viewing platform. For a more scenic walk which takes you across a creek, park at Nellie Glen's Picnic area and walk across the flat rocks towards Kangaroo River. You'll see the walking platform on the other side to Carrington Falls.
Other picnic areas around here too. Watch out for those slippery rocks!
