How's the Serenity at Daisy Hill
Adventure in Bonnie Doon, High Country, VIC, AU
As the sun set across the rolling foothills of the Great Dividing Range our own little patch of serenity at Daisy Hill lit up in hues of pink and gold. We raced up the hill from our Boathouse beside the dam to witness the evening light paint the surrounding mountains like a watercolour, the waters of Bonnie Doon reflecting the sky. The farm's very own alpacas came to say hello, curious of our sunset chasing. Up top we found the perfect spot for a summer bbq, where we could relax after a day of exploring, awaiting the wonder of the Milky Way to come into view.
The Boathouse was cute and cosy, a queen size cottage on the water's edge that had everything we needed - and our very own jetty which made for the perfect spot for a wine and cheese, or fresh eggs the next morning. Kangaroos frequented the gardens around the lodge and happy frogs in the lake provided the soundtrack for our stay.
The summer heat sent us chasing waterfalls and local cascades as cooling off during our adventures became the top priority. How incredible it was to drive to tracks of the southern high country where we found Bindaree Falls and lost ourselves in nature - these tranquil waterfalls clearly one of the area's best kept secrets.
I can imagine a stay at Daisy Hill in winter would be equally satisfying, with the ski slopes only a short drive away and a beautiful log fire to relax beside at the end of your day. Year round this little beauty has something for everyone!

Wander to the hilltops above Daisy Hill Lodge and you'll discover panoramic views of the surrounding Great Dividing Range. There's a perfect spot to watch the day go by above Bonnie Doon, where you'll see the boats of Lake Eildon and that famous bridge! It's incredibly beautiful up here at sunset.
On the edge of Mount Buller you'll find off road tracks that circuit Mount Stirling and beyond. Bindaree Falls is perhaps one of the high country's best kept secrets. These towering falls tumble to the valley below yet you can walk right beneath them on the most tranquil of pathways. If you're equipped with 4x4 take a drive to Craig's Hut while you're up there!
The friendly hosts of Daisy Hill are more than happy to help you feed their beautiful cow or meet the property's curious alpacas.
A beautiful walk leads you to the bank of the river where rocky enclaves form incredible pools to cool off in. Wander a little further and you'll discover much more dramatic waterfalls. This spot is a treat for the senses!
The glorious shores of Lake Eildon lap at the edge of the tiny township of Bonnie Doon. The lake afterall is the heart of this place. Go for a dip, paddle or kayak - or befriend someone with a boat and get out there on the wake!
If you're looking for a classic country pub with a hard to beat view right from the beer garden, this is it! With only open lawn extending to the shores of Lake Eildon you can enjoy your pub meal overlooking the water and soak in the laid-back atmosphere of this institution.
