Story by Jac
Bec, Bath & Beyond
Adventure in Kangaroo Valley, South Coast, NSW, AU
The sun was grinning like a Cheshire Cat and so was I. We took a wander to the Kangaroo Valley lookout and by heck, she’s a stunner! Look. Out. Plus.
Speaking of stunners, this off-grid cabin was this nature girls’ haven! Tucked among the trees where silence hummed and the air smelled of eucalyptus and earth. It was a petite abode but comfortable with honey-coloured timber walls, soft linen sheets and a wide window overlooking a giant watering hole and the mountains beyond. I waited patiently although excitedly for my outrageously talented friend Bec to arrive. I picked her some wildflowers, set the vibe with music and a twirly dress and ran the bubble bath to the brim. I was so excited to see my friend again. It had been ages since we’d created memories together.
Inside, the cabin’s open-plan layout made it feel spacious despite its size. It was completely off-grid, yet had everything we needed even air conditioning! Bec arrived just before sunset. We were over the moon to see each other, hugging tightly for that little while longer than usual. We lit the outdoor fire and poured some wine as we poured out our hearts about our travels, art and love lives. Later, we sat on the deck holding hands, giving thanks to Mother Moon for her guidance and beauty. The night air was still and so were we.
The next morning began with cups of tea in bed as we swapped marketing ideas for our heart-made businesses. We traded skills, stories and even our jumpers before brunch. Yoga on the deck flowed into an afternoon of pure bliss lying in the sun, soaking up the day’s rays like a pair of luscious lizards. Later we collected local produce in the town of Kangaroo Valley and returned to set up a full picnic spread beside the bath. Bec. Bath and beyond? There’s a song in that right there and we hold the copyright to heart.
The tub overflowed as we overshared, laughing our beautiful faces off and cheering to our free spirits. Bath snacks are now an official life priority just like my friend Bec.
That evening, Bec cranked up the BBQ and cooked the most mouth-watering seafood dinner. We sat at the kitchen table in blissful silence for a moment, just soaking it all in. Holy moly, the scallops were beeeeeeyond amazing. Later, in our PJs, we danced under the cabin’s warm lights, singing Lake Street Dive at the top of our lungs. Man, Bec can sing. I tried. Emphasis on tried friends.!
We woke the next morning snug and playful with the birds were singing! So fresh and light. Before we left, we took a little swing under the tree and snapped a photo to remember this wholesome time. Our last stop was “Wilde” café, where we devoured the most incredible burgers! Right up there with Bec’s BBQ scallops! We said goodbye at noon with full tummies and even fuller hearts.
Until we meet again, beautiful Bec. Keep shining your star. Planet earth is a better place with you here.
