Twin Tubs In The Treetops
Adventure in Yellow Rock Ridge, South Coast, NSW, AU
Pulling off the highway, in only a matter of minutes we were leaving the busy streets and houses behind in our rearview mirror and driving along a small tree lined road, over a bridge and up a quiet road into Hidden Valley Eco Lodge. We found our weekend retreat perched on the side of a hill surrounded by trees, completely private from the world. It was so peaceful — not another soul in sight, just a few rooftops far off in the valley below. The kind of place that makes you slow down the second you step out of the car.
Our mornings were simple in the best way: coffee on the deck, watching the sunrise over the valley & ocean in the distance. No traffic, no background noise — just nature.
We ventured out to stretch our legs along a section of the Kiama Coastal Walk, where the rolling paddocks meet the ocean cliffs. Grabbing a bite to eat at a unique café located inside an old quarry mine and playing fetch with our dog along the quiet creek side on the drive back.
Back at the accommodation, the twin outdoor bathtubs felt like having our own private couples day spa, soaking side by side with the fire pit crackling beside us, adding to the cosy warmth. The large deck was a hit with our dog, who spent many hours sitting out there snoozing in the sun until the afternoons rolled into evening sunsets. Sunsets turned into starry nights and we found ourselves star gazing from the tubs, loosing track of time.
Dinner was easy with a local pub, the Plough & Ale, only a short 7 minute drive down the hill and many other restaurants and takeaways close by to choose from.
Heading down the coast, we took a back road winding our way up to the Cambewarra mountain peak for a panoramic view over the Shoalhaven. We spoke about all the outdoor adventures we'd love to do next time we're in the region, with so much to see & do nearby, the list is long!
We're glad we took some time out to relax. By the end of our weekend, we left feeling completely reset — rested, grounded and reminded how good it is to unplug, breathe deeply and just enjoy the quiet.

Things We Did
- Lookout
- Walk
- Café
- River
Take a drive up to the Cambewarra Mountain lookout for spectacular panoramic views over the Shoalhaven region. Grab a coffee at the dog friendly Lookout Cafe.
The Southern section of the larger Kiama Coastal walk hugs the coastline over grassy pastures between Kiama Heights & Werri Beach. Approximately 6km each way, or if you're only feeling up for a light walk, start at Loves Bay & head to the first headland for epic views of the cliffs, southern headlands and railway line.
Not your average cafe, this unique gem is located within a repurposed quarry. You'll find the Quarry Cafe, surrounded by plants and trinkets from the nursery that co-share the old open pit mine site.
The locals recommendation for a calm place to take yourself & your furry friend for a splash. Pack a book and park at Green Mountain Road bridge for a nice sandy bank and waterhole to play in.
