Oberon Beach Retreat
Adventure in Sandy Point, Gippsland, VIC, AU
Tucked away by hedges and trees, Oberon Beach House immediately greets you with a sense of tranquillity and seclusion in the quiet streets of Sandy Point. With an abundance of natural light, this cosy yet inviting property sleeps 7-8 people with three bedrooms making for an intimate stay and encouraging you to spend time on the generous outside decks, as well as explore its magical coastal surrounds. The property is self-sustained on solar panels, rain and bore water, providing a perfect eco-friendly getaway.
The rainy weather made for slow mornings during our stay, but unwinding to the sound of rain on the tin roof was a blissful trade-off! A swim in the rain and an overly indulgent breakfast spread motivated us to brace the weather and tackle the wonders that Wilson’s Prom has to offer. We set off on a 30-minute drive south through the winding roads and watched as the ocean’s vibrancy enhanced to most magical shades of blue. We explored Tidal River, Mount Oberon Summit Walk, and after our sweaty hike, we rewarded ourselves to a dip at the picturesque Squeaky Beach. We ended the night relaxing on the front deck of Oberon with wine and a BBQ, listening to the sound of rosellas singing and waves crashing in the distance.

- Hike
Only an 8-minute walk to the pristine waters of Sandy Point Main Beach, you can hear the waves crashing from the front deck of the Oberon Beach House. Nestled in amongst the sand dunes, this beach offers great expanses of sandy coastline with the attractive backdrop of mountain peaks along Wilsons Promontory in the distance. Perfect place to view the sunset, or on a clear night watching the starry sky reflect onto the sand.
Tidal River is the only township within Wilsons Promontory, so it’s the perfect pit-stop while exploring the Prom. As you make your way through the coastal scrub watch as the turquoise ocean peaks through. The river was low tide on our visit, but the beach didn’t fail to impress!
As its name suggests, Squeaky Beach squeaks when walked on. Take a wander along the famous white sand and have a dip in the turquoise waters of one of Wilsons Prom's most iconic beaches. Admire the towering red granite boulders, or if you’re game enough, attempt to climb up.
Follow the track on a steady uphill climb to the viewing platform at the summit of Mount Oberon. You’ll be blown away by the magnificent panoramic views.
