Orchestra of Nostalgia

There’s nothing quite like staying at Ellington Grove. When we arrived, we immediately felt at home and our nostalgic feelings took flight.

I had a goofy smile on my face as we explored from room to room, marvelling at all the thoughtful touches and loving details of this charming cottage, circa 1870. From the hardwood floors and slate tiles, two beautiful fireplaces, extremely comfy beds, outdoor tub, and musical ornaments hanging on the wall, it was as if we were living in the golden age of jazz and sweet cigars.

We don’t have to go far to appreciate nature in all its glory, with rolling fields, flower-filled meadows, and a dirt road right in our backyard, calling our inner-child to wonder.
Being in the moment and seeing that beauty has brought us such joy.

Magic happens at dusk, when the choir of crickets, frogs, and insects began their orchestra while we tucked into a cozy lounge with a pile of books, hot chai, and no responsibility other than tossing an extra log onto the fire.

The truth is, life moves a little slower here. It is an appreciation of quiet moments, more traditional pursuits and the value of nature around us. I mean, seriously, what more could anyone want for a taste of slow living without sacrificing luxury?

The Pinnacles are one of the most spectacular formations in the Ben Boyd National Park, just a short walk away on this approximately 1.1km loop walk through lovely bushland.

We took an easy boardwalk stroll to the lookout and then ventured down to the beach. Such a beautiful, clean and secluded beach with lots of wildlife. Highly recommended for a tranquility seeker.

Bega is a relaxed rural community that offers a tranquil lifestyle with an old fashioned country charm. We visited some thrifts and antique stores with lots of dining options around. Plus, the drive was super scenic to get here. Don't feel like driving? Stroll the quaint Candelo town instead.
