Luxury Country Living
Adventure in Marcus Hill, Bellarine Peninsula, VIC, AU
We were finally on our way. After about our fourth reschedule due to Covid we were ecstatic to hit the road on our mid-week escape. It had been a long winter and the weather was turning it on.
When we drove down the gravel road and came upon the gate to the cottage in the distance, we knew we were in for a treat.
The Station Master's is a one-hundred-year-old cottage moved from Red Hill down Mornington way.
Renovated, restyled and reimagined, The Station Master’s is a delight. Every little detail has been carefully considered and meticulously executed. From fresh bread, eggs, herbs and wine on our arrival. To freshly cut flowers throughout the home and bath salts for soaking in the upcycled claw foot bath. Our hosts Jen and Mark have thought of everything. Wonderfully styled and sublimely decorated, a true home away from home that oozes luxury country living.
We lucked out with the weather and made the most of the warm days. Though still cool enough at night to sit by the fire and roast some marshmallows. The little man loved the cubby house and his first game of foosball. And when he was tucked away for the night it was time for a soak in the beautiful claw foot bath accompanied with a glass of wine.
Apples and carrots were provided to feed the two highland cows which were great fun for our boy. As the sun was shining we headed to the beach by day. At night we ate our dinner outside basking in the warm evenings. The choice to cook up a yummy breakfast was easy with the fresh bread and eggs supplied. Only minutes from the beach and town, the cottage is nicely situated with a mixture of country and beachy vibes. A superb way to spend a few days, no matter the season, the Station Master's truly was worth the wait.

Things We Did
- Farm
- Surf
- Local produce
- Lookout
- Takeaway
Our lovely host Jen kindly provided carrots and apples to feed the two highland cows in the adjacent paddock. Great fun for the kids and the cows are nice and friendly. Just be careful of the electric fence.
The weather was perfect for spending the day at the beach. We met some friends down there and went for a surf and relaxed in the sun. Point Lonsdale beach is quiet with great views of the lighthouse and the surf was clean and fun.
Close to our stay, we found Farmer's Harvest, a farm gate grocery store. Grab some fresh fruit or veg. We bought a whole watermelon to snack on later.
We went for a stroll up to the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse. Great views to be had overlooking the pier and the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. There is some interesting history to be discovered around there as well.
Queenscliff is a stunning old town with plenty of history. We checked out some stores in town then walked the beach and the pier. We spoke to the many fishermen on the pier and headed to harbour for some fish and chips. Lunch was had as we watched a storm roll in over the boats.
