Unwind in the Bushland
Adventure in Anakie, Bellarine Peninsula, VIC, AU
We left Melbourne right at the end of our working day, driving towards Anakie, excited to be fully recharged by the nature. There was no traffic at all on our journey, and we had no trouble finding the entrance to the driveway. The owner had given us clear instructions to get to our stay and after a short but quite steep climb, we arrived at the cabin right as the sunset was lighting up the scene.
The cabin is completely off-grid and solar-powered, taking away from the distractions and noise of the city. We took our time to explore the property, which includes a camping site under a beautiful canopy and an outdoor fireplace that overlooks the bush, perfect for stargazing over a cheeseboard.
We spent our day cooking together, sipping wine and enjoying ourselves away from the concrete jungle, spotting koalas and exploring the local areas around Anakie, grateful for the experience and fully rejuvenated.

Box Office Cafe, or Boxy, as it's known by the Geelong locals, is a great spot for either breakfast and coffee or a couple of late drinks, offering a selection of brunch items made of fresh and locally available ingredients.
We enjoyed a late breakfast with ice coffees in the cosy outdoor section while planning for the days ahead.

Steiglitz is a small, abandoned mining town in the Brisbane Ranges. We spent our afternoon exploring the settlement and its landmarks such as the post office and the courthouse. The walking track around the town, Deadman's Loop, is a great way to explore the area and took us around an hour to complete.
The Geelong Vintage Market is a massive shop right on the Main Street; an excellent spot to discover vintage records, signage or cameras!
A small winery offering outstanding customer service and selection. A slice of Tuscany in the Brisbane Ranges.
A calm and quiet wildlife oasis, home to rare and endangered wildlife. The sanctuary offers both guided excursions and self-guided walks.
