A Place Beyond the Pines
Adventure in Boneo, Mornington Peninsula, VIC, AU
A much needed girls weekend was in order! We jumped on the bikes and took the scenic coastal road from Melbourne down to Mornington Peninsula, absorbing the ocean views - the best way to welcome in spring. A pizza pit stop filled us up along the way and we stocked up on cheese and wine. We then made our way down the dirt road, past a long row of pines to Howard's Hill. We ran into bike troubles along the way. Our hosts kindly offered to help us out, fortunately we’re privy to the troubles of old bikes and were back on the road before dusk. Fiona and the dogs welcomed us, a candle was burning, the fireplace was set and ready to go. By the time we unpacked the sun was setting. It disappeared behind the pines, a horse in the neighbouring paddock galloped towards us, it was an absolutely breathtaking moment. We cracked open the cheese & wine, turned up the music, lit the fire, played table tennis and finally relaxed on the large deck under the stars.
Waking up to a symphony of birds melted away memories of the city. Fiona and Neil generously treated us to a delicious brekkie with an array of goodies including fresh farm eggs – you can even meet the chickens! After breakfast we explored the beautiful surrounding gardens and large pond area, which left us feeling zen and at one with nature. We made the most of our time and had a taste of everything on offer, the hot springs, food & drinks and of course the beaches!
Howard’s Hill is nestled 15 minutes inland from the coast, down a dirt road behind a long row of pines. The property sits grandly upon a hill surrounded by immaculately kept gardens. The spacious barn provides ample room for indoor and outdoor entertaining, dining and relaxing. The sleeping quarters consist of 2 stables downstairs - such a unique experience! The luxurious top-level boasts a spacious, sunlit open plan lounge and a king size bed. This accommodation has it all, lush linen, fireplaces, table tennis, music, TV, bathtub, coffee machine and a balcony which opens out to a wonderful view of the farm. A perfect getaway for a girl’s weekend, family vacation or an intimate escape.

Things We Did
- Swim
- Beach
- Restaurant
- Walk

My favourite hidden gem! At low-tide deep rock pools are exposed, if you’re brave jump off the giant rock into the sea.

Explore the very tip of the peninsula, the 6km round trek is worth it. Get a glimpse of Australia’s rich wartime history.

Who doesn’t love pizza!? Half an hour from Howard’s Hill is the perfect one stop shop. Stock up on cheese, cured meats, chocolate and wine before you leave.

Walk the dirt roads, collect pinecones and if you’re lucky spy a mob of kangaroos.
