Additional Information
My parents built The Shop in the late 1950s out of cinder gray pumice block. As wheat farmers, they needed a space to repair a number of combines, trucks, tractors, and implement machinery to keep up with all the repair needs. The Shop also served as a "bunkhouse" in the summers to house short term harvest crews.
The crews would live in the bunkhouse on average 45 days straight working long hours to cut more than 14,000 acres a summer. With one phone between all of them, also shared with the main house, they were away from their loved ones for a long time.
Getting mail was a big deal. The crew consisted mostly of immediate family members and college age students who worked hard to save enough money to pay for the entire year of school ahead.
Summer 2021 with a vision to repurpose the space, we put all of the parts, tools, equipment together on tables for a 3-month long shop sale. We began degreasing the space and floors in August 2021, spent the winter cleaning antique equipment we wanted to showcase, painted in the spring, and built the back barn wood deck in late spring.
A custom builder from Coeur d'Alene installed the bunkbeds on May 9, 2022 with a final push to finish soon after, i.e., furniture, wall hangings, kitchen items, etc. On May 29, 2022 for my mom's 99th birthday, we celebrated both her birthday and The Shop's opening with 95 guests.
We hope you enjoy your stay in The Shop and create your own memories.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire space, as well as the area around to enjoy nature. Across the driving bridge is a full pasture to explore which includes, the South Fork Coppei Creek, bee hives in the summer, and a trail above the house.
The grounds are wonderful so feel free to roam and explore. If you bring along kids, they can safely go in the creek in the summers and catch crawdads (with parents of course!), go on a hike, run around the farm, ride on the merry-go-round, use the swing set behind the main house, and have a grand 'ol time. The place is still evolving and hope to have real chickens on the property in the future.
Other things to note

I grew up on the family farm, and moved back in 2018 after working, living, and traveling on all 7 continents. I'm a proud global citizen. I love the outdoors, swimming, bicycling, and hiking/recreating in the great outdoors. Taking care and being a good steward of land, our world and its people are important to me. Learning languages, experiencing international cuisine, understanding how other cultures interact makes me realize just how similar we all are in this world.
As host of my parent's beautiful property, where they farmed for more than 62 years, I value history, preservation of old farm artifacts, antiques, and sharing our beautiful setting with others. Your privacy will be respected and you will be most welcome.
An appreciation of music, art, and animals makes me sing. Cats have a special paw print on my heart and you will find Toffee, Cocoa, and Calico hanging out around the farm.
